Less a bug report and more me broadcasting a workaround for posterity, since I haven't seen it mentioned. Flats on FOFs unclamp when a polyobject passes in front of them, from the top when viewed from below and vice versa:
This only happens when the FOF sector borders the sector containing the polyobject, so just put some space between them:
