CPU usage 100%

Ice

Pretty chill guy
For some reason, whenever I startup SRB2 the game starts acting very slowly, especially when I get a ring, bounce on an enemy, or jump into water. I looked at my CPU usage and it says 100%, and has stayed at that number from there. I find this strange because just before I started up SRB2, it was way lower. What could be causing this?

This only recently started happening, and it just sits there at 100% no matter what I do.

The Software rendering mode usually maxes out the CPU, because all of the processing is done on the CPU, and no processing is done on the graphics card. Using the OpenGL rendering mode reduces CPU load dramatically to almost nothing,

SRB2 (among other programs) always uses 100% CPU unless you are running on multiple processors or cores. I'm on Dual Core and such programs only take up 50% (but still run at full-speed). This is a nice advantage because it allows me to run both Folding@Home and a game, both at full speed, at the same time. Don't try it on single core/single CPU though, it's only going to reduce performance.

Found a good quote in that topic, nice find.

Ice, did you ever try it on Open-GL.... or on another CPU?

I'm starting to wonder whether you keep a record of all these posts so you can provide a link to them later on...

Possibly, so he doesn't have to research/post the answer again.

That'd be cool if these questions would be on the SRB2 FAQ....... :P

It might also be worth a mention that Gens will use the CPU 100% when it's running, too.
