I have this not-being-able-to-host-but-was-able-to-before problem as well, but i use XP. I don't understand why though, i configured the firewall so it could allow SRB2 access to the internet, and added Port 5029 with all the details in the previous post, and yet, i can't host online.

Not really. I read somewhere in the wiki that in order to play SRB1 stages, you needed to have all chaos emeralds or something of that sort. Hence why they did 2 types of level, otherwise it would just take space.

It's videogame logic. In fact, i don't know how it is possible for Sonic and Co. to survive in space (as you've seen in many games, such as SA2) while they don't last but 11 seconds in SRB2.

IMO, Sonic's faster, because he ACTUALLY runs, unlike Shadow who uses his hovering shoes to move around.
