I agree with pretty much everything ManuelRome said; level design can heavily dictate how fluid a character feels to play.
Even if you theoretically designed "perfectly fluid" controls, level/map design can hinder that fluidity easily. That being said, the thok being "clunky" doesn't make much...
Haha, didn't expect to see a thread I made ten years ago get bumped like this.
Anyways, it's crazy that I managed to play competently without a mouse. I don't see myself over going back to keyboard only!
Well, it's been quite a while. I check back a couple years later and slopes are implemented? That's incredible!
You guys really deserve props for sticking around and continuing to update this game after so many years. 2.2 looks extremely promising and I'm really looking forward to when it's...
EDIT:
For personal reasons, I currently don't have the game to write down reviews for the maps. The two maps I reviewed have been removed as well, because I'm not really happy with how they were written. However, I have played them enough times to rank them properly, so here we go:
Seraphic...
Wait, so you would rather want the devs include a half-assed port of a mediocre stage from Brawl than include something entirely new?
Also, the game isn't fully complete yet, so we don't know for sure whether Sonic's movesets will be copied from Brawl's or not.
Sonic The Hedgehog: Spring Yard & Marble Zone
Sonic 2: Chemical Plant, Emerald Hill (2-Player) & Hill Top Zone
Sonic CD: Tidal Tempest (USA) & Collision Chaos (JP/EU)
Sonic 3: Hydrocity Act 2 & Launch Base Act 1
Sonic & Knuckles: Lava Reef Act 1 & Sky Sanctuary
Sonic 4: oh god make it stop...
This is terrible.
Why the hell should we need new and improved features like this in SRB2???? First Chuckles (I, for one LOVED the old Knuckles. He felt MUCH better in SRB2 alongside the rest of the unchanged, nostalgic cast. I mean, at least make 1.09.4 Knuckles a skin option), and now this...
It's quite strange. I find messing with the compatibility modes (switching on, then off of Windows 7 in compatibility mode) makes it fullscreen again. I suppose doing what Ors mentioned would work too.
Otherwise, this just seems to be a completely random thing Windows 8 likes to do for...
Very, very cool map. It constantly surprised me with every turn and overall it just blew my mind.
I was kinda disappointed at the abrupt ending, yet at the same time I feel like the abruptness made it all the more strange/mysterious... I LOVE it!
I'm just excited to see the community get more active again. Especially now that the OLDC will finally be returning and fancy stuff like Lua support will be possible.
That isn't to say I'm not looking forward to every single other thing listed in this page, however.
Incredibly late reaction, but...
WOW, 2.1 IS IN LESS THAN TWO WEEKS
Huge props to the entire SRB2JR team for continuing to add more content to a game this old. I never thought we would ever see 2.1's release, and I was proven wrong.
I can't wait to see the new content the community will give...
2.1 is looking more promising with every update. I love the new main menu design.
Can't wait to finally start playing again once this releases.
Also, an actual release "date"!?!? WTF
