Is it me or do i feel like the srb2 community is dying?

idk if i'm not missing shit but the message board seems extremely dry lately not to mention there isn't as much srb2 content being put there no more like there used to be anymore?

Most of the recent development has been in UZB (Ultimate Zone Builder) as 2.2.16 becomes the release that will wind down 2.2.x and shift much, if not all of the remaining development focus to 2.3.

The occasional slowdown in activity (including in the community) is not unprecedented by any means, nor unexpected for an open-source game project with no paid positions (even though we get a surprise every now and then). Also take note that the vast majority of players will generally not specialize in one game and might move to other games in their library sooner or later).

The community isn't dying, it just isn't super engaged right now. It's been a hot minute since a new version of the game or a hit new addon dropped and most people have other things that they are interested in other than just SRB2. Like Beagle said, times of activity will come and go. It's nothing to get worried about. Think of it less like a life cycle and more like the ebb and flow of the tides. The waters are low right now, but they'll rise back up as the clock runs its course and something noteworthy happens to draw attention and interest back up.

I think it's that the bar for mods keeps getting set higher and higher, and mods are taking longer to try and reach that standard.
The only regard in which that bar exists is through being self imposed. There's no rule that you need to outdo someone else's mod that is already out with yours, quality is subjective, and there's plenty of people who will download and enjoy a mod even if it's not the best thing since sliced bread. It's not a competition, and most people are just happy to have some kind of new content in general once in a while. If you hold yourself to the standard of having to make a better mod than anyone else has ever put out before, you're going to overwhelm yourself with unnecessary stress and self doubt. Make what you want to make for your own reasons and with your own personal touch to it, take constructive criticism into account, and eventually you'll find your groove and do just fine.
