How to turn Ring models into sprites without turning models off SRB2 v.2.2.11

I have SRB2 version 2.2.11 on Android it already came with the 3D models, so there is no model folder, but I want the rings to be sprites.
I'd like to know if there is a way to just get rid of the ring model?

is there a models.dat file?
if there is, open it in a notepad app and remove the line specifying the ring model

Put this in the folder where your saves are located, and then try doing what cheeseboi said
also MAKE SURE YOU RENAME IT to models.dat, i couldn't do that myself here since there's a file extension whitelist appearently on the mb.
I'm not sure how this setup works with all the models being embedded into the application, so tell us if anything new happens and what happened, and what you did before it happened.

So I edited out the ring line and renamed the file to models.dat and moved it to the folder with the save files, but when I started the game it just had sprites even with the Models On setting.
