Add-on Ratings changes

If it's the text that makes the review, I don't see why nixing stars makes a difference. Score doesn't preclude the review being insightful.

I like the thought of steam's recommendation system a good deal more than bringing back stars. Explaining why you'd play something is quite a bit more useful than explaining what you'd score it.

I want to see what I did wrong so I stop doing it - I look at 1-2 star reviews.
I want to see what I did right so I can do more of it - I look at 3+ reviews.

Sure, the difference is minuscule, saves like 5 seconds, but considering keeping the star system takes zero effort, I'd say it's harmless.

Now, if we DID have Steam's "recommend / don't recommend" system instead of just the "Cool!", then I'd be 100% on board with it.

You ever heard of a satire joke, dumbass?
Cease.

to be fair i just want some visual form of rating for reviews, if the stars get replaced with something else, like the steam recommendations as mentioned earlier id be cool with that

Do pardon me picking on this but like...
I guess because you can wash and dry your clothes outside, you don't need a convenient method like dryer/washing machine. Even more so because they were around for a very good while.
...You do know you have to clean out lint in a dryer after use right? Least you end up having it overheat, burn your clothes and possibly explode. There's a time and place where one's better than the other, as an analogy of conveniency though it kinda falls flat.

Ehhh I'm kinda mixed on that. I think so long as the idea brings a visual metric or large outline that's a pretty sound idea but it could equally fall flat and contribute nothing as a replacement.

I like this system too. I also like that I can sort reviews and only see those that recommend the game or don't recommend it.

it's very strange that there is "Cool!" but no opposite.

I haven't dig into the spectrum of steam's recommendation system, I do have the app. It's just I don't use it oftenly since I rather play games that aren't on a app on a software that makes you pay and buy the games that are around $20 or $40.

I still prefer the idea of removing the reviews. Since writing a message on a review has similarities between writing a message in the discussion tab. The only difference is that reviews usually have ratings, so that way you can tally it up.

Plus, didn't it originally use vBulletin? Because I've seen what it look like before I got a new account on here.

What if we implemented a system similar to Nexus Mods endorsements? Basically just a thumbs up. No option for thumbs down. It's impossible to rating bomb mods, and new mods that initially don't get many endorsements due to X,Y,Z issue, but which later improve with community feedback, can see their rating rise. This would allow for robust sorting options as well, for those interested in what mods are the highest rating given a certain time period (last 24 hours, last week, all time, etc).

Ngl this feels kinda useless. People like me may still care about the ratings no matter if a bunch of stars are beside my addon or not. What’s next guys? Doing the SMM route and removing any adding with bad ratings? I do like the cool score tho! Shit looks fire 🔥. Constructive reviews on this site can really look like people telling you how shit your mod is considering how critical people could be! I would love to Lowkey use an actual person on this site as an example but that’s just too mean. the fact that some people can say the most rude shit on this site like shut the fuck up or this mod is just ass and call it criticism and not being critical as fuck and no one doing anything about it is sad. There are people who feel a certain type of way when there addon they put effort into gets say, 2-3 and a half stars! That would hurt them and removing the stars in the addons and more page is not doing anything different. Do better please! Remeber there are people who care about these stars and can feel sad because they might be lower than there expectations.

Imo, this change was needed indeed, as i've been witness to a Ring Racers mod creator that i enjoy, delve themselves into hating themselves, over a thoughtless/critiqueless 1-star review. I've been thinking of writing an encouraging message to them over on the discussion page, but i was not ready for it yet. Hopefully they are doing okay.

Same! But some people really do care about those stars considering the effort they put into there creation no matter how big or small.

i am sorry that this happened to your friend but if you're gonna delve into hating yourself because of 1 blatant troll giving you a terrible review, you really shouldn't be posting things on the internet if you aren't mentally prepared for trolls. either that or learn to ignore them cuz there's always gonna be people like that no matter where you go.

also this argument has nothing to do with stars being removed because said troll can still write said thoughtless/critiqueless review even without the stars so i don't know what you were trying to prove here tbh

honestly thats like a common theme i see with arguments against the change, its just "me or my friend's feelings were hurt cuz a troll gave them a 1 star review that didn't give criticism" and while thats bad that happened, the 100 char minimum will prevent a bit of it, and trolls can still make shitass reviews even without the stars.

also i mentioned this before but i guess just grow thicker skin..? i know this community is supposed to be a "sanctuary" for artists or whatever but if overacting like that in this community is accepted as something "normal" you're just gonna be a massive target for trolls everywhere else.

Why was this needed lol, what if ppl wanna sort by highest rated, and just want a way to find quality mods
test things out, ask friends, look at how many "cool"s it has, so on and so fourth. if you just take a star system as the gospel, you'll end up missing out on mods you would've enjoyed if you took the risk or you would find a popular mod that you just don't really like.

also you can just click on top resources in the addons and more section since that still works
