HD texture pack for 2.2

According to a reply to a comment, they only took some textures from Green Hill from Generations. It’s not an entire texture pack because you can see multiple instances of vanilla textures being unchanged

Based on the footage I have seen regarding the use of reshade on SRB2, much of what was done was make every surface extremely glossy and then add a ton of bloom on top.

Anyone who thinks that it can act as a substitute for actual HD shading, lighting, and texturing is mistaken, and a photorealistic graphics engine is not exactly a priority for the team.

I'm pretty sure it's possible to create a shader program that upscales textures (or adds depth using depth maps or whatever). I'm not sure what you said about shading and lighting is true though, it might be possible to create a shader program that renders light well, but unfortunately I'm not (yet?) a shader programming expert. But of course having a better 3D engine or 3D-capable game engine is always better. In any case, I think this is also a matter of art/creativity; a creative and talented person could probably make something pretty with the non-photorealistic engine of SRB2 together with shaders.

I was thinking maybe more pixels for more detail in textures and sprites like in the video, but I'm not sure about a lighting engine. Just imagining it now would be very surreal to see a game with a simple, bare bones lighting engine, to it being photorealistic, but thats just me anyway. Not saying I wouldn't like it, but it's a cool concept in my eyes!

Yeah, I could see it was very glossy, I wasn't sure if I had my monitor brightness really high lol

its just the popular guys who did the reflection thing. you can do it without reflections too like this:
