Stuff You Want In the Final Version of SRB2

I would like for them to add some ACTUAL Momentum like it's embarrassing for how long it's taking them just to simply add it when that's basically what Sonic (especially Classic Sonic) is about

YEAH ITS TAKING A WHILE CAUSE THE SRB2 ENGINE WAS NOT DESIGNED FOR MOMENTUM

Black Core Zone might not appear in the final version because what we may get instead is Final Fight Zone like how it was originally intended to be.

how would even it control in srb2?
I'm been giving this some thought, and a possible control scheme does come to mind. In the Modern Sonic portions of the Time Eater fight in Sonic Generations forward movement is automatic so you can adjust your horizontal and vertical position without having to worry about the Z axis, and you can boost to speed up. In SRB2, a similar concept could be applied in which you are chasing the boss similar to Doomsday Zone with forward movement being automatic and the spin key allowing you to do a dash or boost. This approach would necessitate the camera being locked and a more straight forward linear stage design that loops, but it's hard to think of a better way to handle 3D flight without needing too many buttons.

Something that could also be done could be for the boss to have two phases with the first phase having Sonic in his base form. Like the second phase you are chasing the boss, but unlike the second phase the gameplay is more similar to the Metal Sonic race with you having to do platforming challenges to catch up to and deal damage to the boss. Effectively, the first phase puts everything you've learned thus far to the test, and passing this test rewards you with the second phase at which point Sonic transforms into Super Sonic.

How are there so many momentum mods then:shitsfree:
I probably should've phrased that a bit better but what i was trying to say Is that SRB2 isn't designed with classic momentum and because of that lot would have to changed, for example:
Level design would have to be changed, the thok would have to be rewritten or replaced (which Is what they're doing for 2.3 It seems), some bosses like the metal Sonic race would have to be retweaked, etc.
It isn't embarassing that it's talking when a whole lot of the work Is redesigning level design just so It can work.

Then we can just have a larger level, right? Like those thicc mods.

technically yeah you could if you want to take the easy way out but

1. thats not solving the core issue

2. not sure how many people would like 2.2 but stretched out for an update thats supposed to improve and continue what 2.2 started

personally i think changing srb2's physics would change a big part of the game's identity for not enough benefit. a lot of the reason i still play srb2 so much is because the physics feel good as they are, and changing them to be more in line with the classic sonic games wouldn't do much but make them different in a way that would be disorienting and possibly offputting to long-time players. the physics as they are now are slightly unintuitive for newcomers, but once you get used to them, they're really rewarding, which is very in line with srb2's general design. and also a lot of complaints about srb2's physics come from new players who are frustrated that sonic's speed thok looks like a platforming tool but is essentially just a slightly clunky boost where a platforming tool really ought to be but i digress
