SRB2 Timeline Project

Hello. So recently I've noticed that there is no definitive resource for SRB2's history, so I decided to make one! With one problem... I've only been in the SRB2 community since 2021, and I have no idea where to start, so I've come here asking for help from older community members to help make a definitive timeline of everything that's happened the past 25 years. Month by month.

Main things to note down:
-Recently released versions (Patch notes & stuff) Probably the easiest info on this list
-Newly released mods (Not all, just the most noteworthy)
-What was the MB like?
-OLDC? (List Entries, Winners, and Hosts)
-If any devs joined/left
-What were the rules for adding mods like?
-How were servers? (Popular mods/How good the netcode)

I also wanna add SRB2Kart and SRB1 to this timeline thing so theres that too

Also if this idea is stupid please let me know

Here's all the existing resources I know of for SRB2 history:

The main website: https://www.srb2.org/
The news/blog posts here go back to 2001 if you know where to look (https://www.srb2.org/archives.htm), though most of the activity is around the 2.1 - 2.2 development era. Make sure to click to view the longer articles in their entirety, since some have development screenshots that help to form a clearer picture of how things were progressing at the time.

The wiki: https://wiki.srb2.org/wiki/Main_Page
Kinda slim on info in comparison to some wikis, but nevertheless a valuable resource.

The Official Discord
This is a relatively new source of info, but it's loaded with countless conversations involving developers and players alike over the past several years. I highly recommend learning how to use Discord's advanced search features to locate posts by developers, and especially posts containing images/links. Tons of development screenshots and discussions can be found this way.

Developer Twitter/YouTube accounts
Similar to the Discord, the Twitter/YouTube accounts of current and former STJr. members can be quite useful for finding development footage and discussion of both the retrospective and contemporary sort. Particular attention should be given to SSNTails, the co-founder of SRB2, who has been a major source of historical artifacts (for obvious reasons) over the years. As we speak, he's in the middle of releasing a series of videos covering an early development build circa 1998-2000.

SRB2 The Past + other old-level archives
I'm assuming you're already aware of SRB2 The Past, but keep in mind that there are a few other releases of old versions of levels that aren't included in The Past. Here's the ones I'm aware of:

this abandoned DSZ1 remake intended for 2.1
Late 2015 DSZ2 remake attempt by Toaster
The ACZ2 Museum

And of course, the most authentic way to experience old content is with old versions, several of which are archived here: https://www.srb2.org/download/historic-downloads/ ...but keep in mind that some of these are so old, they might not work on modern versions of Windows.
