Water Skate Theory (Idea?)

Alright so I had this thought for awhile now, I know that you can run in water with enough momentum but the thing is that it reminds me of the 06 water slide so I thought of why did nobody ever made a sprite for Sonic that appears when he "runs" on water? I'm sure that there is a line of code that detects if you have enough momentum and lets you run on water so maybe somebody can edit that to make it use a "slide" sprite instead of the basic running animation?? Is it even possible?

Edit: Not sure if somebody did try this one so yeah please inform if this isn't possible

The first part of this is that Sonic can't do this normally in SRB2. It IS a skin flag, though.
But as for if it's possible, I can almost 100% guarantee it is, it's probably a bit difficult to detect the water running and then forcibly overwrite running, but nothing too out there.
