This is a very simple add-on, sorta inspired by ring racers and it's lightmap.
It's purpose? well
have you ever wondered why the shadows are usually so dull and/or brown in vanilla srb2? well, a lightmap is the thing that defines how colors get gradually darker in shadows. This is very diferent from a palette change, a palette change just changes every color the palette can use, this changes how said colors are used.
So what does this mod do? well
makes these color ramps more vibrant and adds more color to them that way there's more transition tones, meaning it ends up being smoother, you get more vibrant looking shadows, and less uncomfortable transitions, even if subtle in cases.
Not only that, you can use it online no problemo!
All you have to do is boot up the file called "MMILES_LightMap.bat" instated of the srb2.exe, all this does is for the mod to load as the game launches, because otherwise it crashes. why? my only guess is that srb2 has to do big changes to load it after the vanilla one is loaded, otherwise, i have no clue.
anyway, now, some comparasions
comparison:
vanilla <> mine
(A map made by @dashdahog was included if someone wants to see more direct comparison )
and yeah, that's it, enjoy!
If by any chance someone uses this to make their level I'll advice to check how the textures get darker so that you get shadows with the desired result.
