New 2D Sonic game "Sonic the Hedgehog 4" announced for 2010

I hope you atleast finished them before saying that they are bad.

It doesn't take personal experience to know that the games are bad. I've seen gameplay Super Man 64, so I already know it's a bad game. Likewise, I did take the time to watch playthrough commentaries of Sonic '06 and Black Knight. General consensus says Shadow the Hedgehog is a mediocre game.

Ok yes 06 is very glitchy but if they took time to fix them it would have been a great game.

But they didn't. So, regardless, it's a bad game.

Sonic Unleashed of the wii is good...if you didn't play the PS3 version.

Unleashed Wii is poorly designed as well. I got it as a gift, so I enjoyed it for what it was worth, but after I finished it and got some number of medals, I quit playing and never revisited it. Once you restart a new game, its flaws become really obvious.

I watched playthroughs of the 360 version too; looks much more enjoyable, but there's still clearly problems that drag it from being a great game.



Now, you know, I could have just made it easy and said "The entire modern era is bad." I just showed it's possible to be pessimistic even following Sonnarku's warped logic.

Well it's sad that most of the ''fans'' only see the bad side of the games. Atleast i enjoy them really much and have tones of fun with them. I even find them more fun then the classic one's.

There is just 1 thing that i hope will never happen. They really shouldn't do a sonic mmorpg like the games those days ( the startreck,starwars and DC universe ). Sure i will buy it but it would feel weird ^^'

Oh also there is a new sonic game in progress for the 3DS.

I can only vouch for 06 in terms of Badness.

I actually Liked Shadow, Started playing Sonic and The Black Knight (Liking what I've played so far), enjoyed both SD and HD versions of unleashed and bought the DLC Expantions, and I even thought that both Riders games were good.

But Sonic 06, no. It started off bad and got worse. when you can't even do the most basic of attack that you've been able to do nearly the entire series (the simple jump attack), then you have a huge problem.

Sonic 4 is already looking to miss most of my expectations.

Yeah. I mean there are sonic fans that only likes old school games and they just say everything after sonic 3 sucks.

Also I was watching X-Play today and they showed a 8 second footage of a new sonic rider game. Can't wait for it :D

They aren't Sonic fans, they are fans of the old-school Sonic games. Somebody who is a fan of Sonic games because of its title character will likely buy anything with Sonic in it.

If it's trying to seduce a audience by buying their product, they should have a better way to describe the latest game other than "speed returns etc."


Maybe they should go back to the old games, because that is what has worked well and no one would mind seeing more of it. Most old school sonic fanboys don't just hate the new games for a reason.

If they would do all the sonic game in the old school style it would become pretty boring because they couldn't really make any improvements and all they could do is add playable character and change the zone's and music.Also there are other popular games that had bad trailers but there was almost no bad comment and people were just exited.

Let's see what they can do:
New Bosses
New Enemies
New Level Gimmicks
New items ( unlikely, but the return of the S3 Shields is good!)
New Levels overall ( as in, Not another Coastal Level/Green Hill Zone)

I think you're underestimating what can be done to improve the classic sonic gameplay formula here.

Anyways, it looks like all there is left to do for Sonic 4 is just waiting. =P

Okay, I played the first level of Sonic 4.

I was impressed.

I actually had fun playing that rather than Sonic 1 and 2 on the iPod. The game flow was very well done and the only time I felt as though it was one long cutscene was when I had stuffed up and it was punishing me slightly by making the path a bit longer. The homing attack is hard to get right because of the small screen and the only time it was easy, it just gave me super sneakers instead.

The models and that and a tad bit lower than I expected, but it's an iPod, who wouldn't expect that. But I'll go and play the next few zones of SPlash Hill and see what it's like now.

SO far so good.

That's a bit stereotypical. I like the classics, but I also like Sonic Adventures 1 & 2. I even liked Sonic '06, though I think they should have gone with a different title, and the loading sequences were freaking long and annoying...

It's not that I think all Sonic games should play like the classics, it's just that they should try not to make the new games suck so much.

I consider myself a fan, but that doesn't mean I have to like everything with Sonic's face on it. I like the concept, the story (what little there is of it), and the characters.

I do NOT like the annoying dialogue, voice actors, gameplay problems, static use of characters (i.e. characters never develop, and they always act the same, such as with Shadow's permanent frown and constant "I hate life, I'm gonna go cut myself" sort of attitude), narrow passageways, etc.

October 7, today, is the day Sonic the Hedgehog 4 was released on iPhone.

iPrice. By the way, finished it last night within, I dunno, two hours? (took a break for some time)
But for me, it has an enormous amount of replay value and that three chaos emerald is so freaking hard to get it isn't funny. I find you bounce a bit too much in the Special Stages, but that's what makes it more skillful if you finish it.

Also, don't play Casino Street Act 2, that level's just silly if I have to admit it.
