Too bad my PS3 overheated (4 users making play of it, plus Venezuela´s ¨loveley¨ 31 Degrees Celsius, made it overheat), it seems I´ll have to buy the Wii DVD then.

For those who want an actual gameplay i did one sooooo....there you go. Yes yes i know it's only Splash Hill Zone but i must upload the other worlds today or tomorow.

pffffhahaha

try recording one that isn't done with a video camera

you know, kinda like this one (spoiler alert: I played through the whole game, so don't look if you wanna hold off until you play it yourself)

(also, the audio wasn't that bad until youtube raped it :()

I got the game, and just as I suspected, I had a lot of fun! Am I the only one who is not bothered by the physics though? I seem to have no problems with it so far. The level design was probably the strongest part of the game.

The physics don't bother me either. Anyways, I give this game a 9/10 because of it's very short length and the sudden difficulty increase.

I downloaded Sonic 4 today for the Xbox, and I just finished playing through the first two levels.

I haven't finished it, but I like it so far. The physics are different, but nothing worth complaining about. They just take some getting to.

And the homing attack that everyone was complaining about, I think it works out pretty well in this game. It's not like the badniks were ever that much of a challenge anyway. The homing attack just helps Sonic move a little faster.

The special stages are fun (I got four emeralds on my first try :D ).

The two bosses I've fought weren't too difficult, but they don't really need to be.

I like the music and sound effects. And the level of difficulty, i think is very good. My mother, who has never mastered a single video game since Pacman, was able to pick it up and finish the first level (with a little guidance from me). However, the levels get progressively harder, so they're not too easy.

Can't wait to see how Super Sonic handles. I hope I get to him before my brother does. (I'm watching him play now. He's got five emeralds.)

I do, however, think some of the objects might be a bit too big (such as the rings, and the big-headed flickeys), but that's minor.

This completely hits the nail.

I've heard some good things about the level design, and I've heard bad things. Alright. But if it doesn't have the physics, it's just another platformer without the depth of the momentum physics and pinball mechanics. Sonic is no longer Sonic. That's why I, like the guy in the video, am not interested in playing this. I want a Sonic game, not just another platformer.

Now, in the general gameplay sense, it's excusable for the physics to be different as long as they function properly and consistently. But some of the stuff shown in the video is blatantly abnormal, especially how Sonic completely stops in midair after letting go of left/right regardless of his speed. I classify this as buggy; clearly, these are not good physics in any sense.

Yes, the physics have issues.

But physics don't make a god damn game. Oh no! Sonic completely stops if you don't hold right! SONIC IS NOT SONIC

I had issues with the physics at first. But I easily got used to them. Sonic 4 is a great game with yes, some issues. I totally recommend putting down 15 dollars for the game. It is totally worth it! All the levels are built very well. I can't stop playing the same levels over and over again! I feel sad for people skipping the game just because Sonic doesn't have the same physics as the classics.

I love the graphics for the game. Heck, I even have times where I would just stand still in Casino Street!

Sucks to be you, you aren't getting it.

Not unless people demand it. But knowing this fanbase's unbelievable range of what to forgive Sega for on their letdowns, you're right. We'll never see that game because people simply won't demand it because they have given into mediocrity and will be much too forgiving on companies for a poor product. YOU BOUGHT IT DAMMIT. If you have complaints TELL THEM. INFORCE THE POINT. Don't ever settle for less than what can be. They want your money, they have to do something great to recieve it.

We'll never see that game because the fanbase can't agree on what's right or not and keeps complaining and nitpicking at every single goddamn thing that comes out the door.

Fixed.

Damn it, you people disgust me. There's exactly one thing wrong with the physics, and that's how Sonic stops in midair suddenly. ONE THING.

And yet people act like that one thing immediately makes every step forward that this game does completely null and void and that this should be abandoned and sent to the trash heap.

Oh, if only if it were just that one little problem. If only.

1. You can't bounce off of enemies and get lots of air like you used to be able to.
2. Rolling down hills doesn't work correctly, and actually slows you down.
3. There's no way to gather momentum on the U-shaped half pipes like you used to be able to, so instead of slowly rolling down one side and up the other, eventually getting closer and closer to the top, you roll into the middle and go into a dead stop.
4. How easy it is to complete to a complete stop on slopes and walls. Not 'walking in place' stop, 'Sonic goes into an idle animation' stop.
5. The uncurling. Just... why?

It's not a bad thing to have issues with the game. In fact, it's to be expected, and the fact that people are basically settling for a buggy game and trying to pretend that it's perfectly fine is only hurting our pretty bad chances of getting a decent Episode 2.

1. You can't bounce off of enemies and get lots of air like you used to be able to.
I don't recall any opportunities for such ever coming into play, what with the level design and all. Regardless, did you stop holding down the jump button mid-jump or not?

2. Rolling down hills doesn't work correctly, and actually slows you down.
Are you nuts?

Go play Mad Gear 1 again. There's a long slope near the middle (it's just after the part that has you jump on a series of upwards facing crushers) and you sure as hell go faster spinning down that than running.

3. There's no way to gather momentum on the U-shaped half pipes like you used to be able to, so instead of slowly rolling down one side and up the other, eventually getting closer and closer to the top, you roll into the middle and go into a dead stop.
The only occurrence I know where this comes into play has a hole on the left side near the bottom of the halfpipe. Naturally this ruins the ability to roll back and forth along it -- hell, I'm pretty sure similar things happened in the classic games.

Also, just run up the damn halfpipe for crying out loud.

4. How easy it is to complete to a complete stop on slopes and walls. Not 'walking in place' stop, 'Sonic goes into an idle animation' stop.
I've seen myself able to stop on around a 1/3 slope and stand there. That's not too terribly far off the classic games.

5. The uncurling. Just... why?
If you're talking about uncurling after hitting a dash pad, why's that a problem?

If you're talking about uncurling in air, stop mashing the jump button like an obsessed madman. Shockingly, he only uncurls when you use his homing/airdash attack.

The game itself is fun, but for the price it's a ripoff. The game will last for about 2-4 hours, maybe less. It's rather disappointing, actually; I was hoping for more.

He does uncurl when you roll off a ledge. What are you talking about?
Sonic bouncing off a wall in a Special Stage when he shouldn't (it's to my side, so why should I fly up so much?), annoying acceleration and deceleration, and a lack of momentum are flaws in the physics engine, in addition to the annoying mid-air movement.

It's not a "single flaw in the engine that fans won't let go of".
And for the record, I don't care about the classic games that much to begin with (I actually prefer the 3D games more, mostly), so there's no point of even trying to call me out on wanting this to be exactly like the classics.

Everyone, just admit that this isn't like the classics. So what if the engine is different. I'd actually like to have a change. (I don't have Sonic 4 yet)

I just can´t take this post seriously. All this about little facts wich don´t even affect gameplay in a direct way? Heck no.

I probably didn't notice that because it's rare to just roll off a ledge as opposed to jumping off of it?

annoying acceleration and deceleration, and a lack of momentum
Accel isn't bad, decel and momentum problems are just extensions of the whole "instant stop when you let go of the control stick" shtick.
