Why does SEGA keep things from the final in the demo? You know that the Sonic community of hackers are going to rip open this game. Plus with City escape and Modern Sonic's green hill zone being in the demo, that just seems that they cheeped out on us. At least the gameplay is good.
 
And now I'm angry. Way to go, Sonic Team. You had me once again.

Fuck this shit. I'm not paying for Retro Sonic in the City. This is unacceptable. These are the poorest level choices I have seen.

So wait, now the game is automatically gonna be crap because of the level choices? I'm not such a big fan of the level choices either, but how in the hell would the level choice make ANY difference? We haven't seen a single sample of gameplay in any of these levels, and yet you're just gonna assume they will all suck?

WE NEED LEVELS BASED ON LEVELS FROM SONIC R
And we need Tails Doll as a boss. Period.
Also i want SRB2 levels here, even though SRB2 is a fangame

I can not for the life of me finish the stage in under 47 seconds. I'm trying to whittle my 0:47:84 to at least 0:46:99. It's hard man.

Got the demo, my lowest time so far is 0:57:79

also i want to stab XAlted in the face

I just got 0:45:88. Added a jump to the normal routine I went with on a small bridge after a yellow spring and that shaved about a second off of my time. Would've gotten a better one if I remembered to Spindash at the last two loops. :/

I got a picture this time, yippee.

Oh well, we didn't do anything too different, he just got a better time somehow. I'll figure it out later.

I was hoping they were going to compensate for the not nearly accurate classic gameplay with good, varied level choices that really showed the unique worlds that Sonic and his imitator have gone through in the last 19 years. Sadly, this is no longer the case, and just to rub salt in the wound they have the gall to go and release one of the better levels as DLC. Games should have all of their content packed into the CD. Milking a game with DLC to keep raking in the money is a cheap marketing gimmick that I am sick of and this practice needs to end. You couldn't download more content on a Genesis cartridge. The entire game was THERE. And this game is Retro Sonic going through Green Hill Zone, two clones, and 4 City levels. I don't think anyone could possibly see anything right with that level selection.

Even with proper controls, this game isn't worth it with this level selection. They ignored any of the unique stages like Quartz Quadrant, Metropolis, or Sandopolis. Hell, I would take the Middle East levels from SA2 over City Escape. Just something to round out the variety. But no.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 had better level variety than this. And that is downright depressing considering the shit this franchise has been through.

It seems Sega went with a 3 tier system. (As speculated by a Retro member)
Area 1- Classic
Green Hill Zone
Chemical Plant Zone
Sky Sanctuary Zone
Rival Boss- Metal Sonic
Boss- Death Egg

Area 2- Adventure
Speed Highway
City Escape
Seaside Hill
Rival Boss- Shadow
Boss- Perfect Chaos

Area 3- Modern
Crisis City
Rooftop Run
Planet Wisp
Rival Boss- Silver
Boss- Egg Dragoon (which I'm guessing equates to New EggRobo)
I still have no idea why they decided to reuse the City theme several times. Seaside Hill was already stretching it but thankfully it'll probably have more of an ancient water palace theme.

I'm kind of interested about the DLC. Since the Casino stage is apparently a minigame, I'm not too excited for that. I'm wondering what else the "BONUS PREORDER CONTENT" includes.
