The return of Swine Flu

Also now my parents are canceling our trip to medico!

Wait, you were planning a trip to go to the doctor's? *pwned*

As for me, I'm not scared. 50-100 deaths in Mexico is not much; it's not something to actually panic over.

Well, I was researching on the swine flu and found an article about medicinces that can treat the influenza virus.

You know that the swine flu virus has mutated, therefore patients need a different immunization, right?

MEDIA SCARE.

Well, a case was reported in Fort Bend county, that's about 30-40 miles south of where I live. I'm not scared whatsoever, Houston has one of (if not the best) medical center on Earth.

I wouldn't worry about death rates, they're all from Mexico which is (not to be rude) more of a 3rd world country compared to America and the UK, they have less vaccines and probably an immune system that isn't as good as ours.

Oh? I was told it was the water...

At any rate, after going through the Y2K scare, the Avian Flu scare, and etc etc etc, I'm not about to let this or 2012 drive me paranoid. As far as I'm concerned, its not worth going berserk just because you THINK that there's an end-of-the-world disaster going on, and if there REALLY is one, its not like you are going to be able to stop it anyway.

As for epidemics, I would say that everyone that is stable enough to post on an internet forum knows how to practice good hygiene, so what else is there to worry about?

Sounds like a day after tomorrow B-movie except no one really cares.

Or like the beginning of L4D. Which would be sweet.

Great, another one of these flus, and the media are making a total big scare thing out of it.

This is just what it was like when Bird influenza was spreading a few years back, as soon as it hit, media started going mental, then it started everyone going mental. The deaths are happening more due to lack of resources in Mexico, but because UK & US have more resources, it is resulting in less deaths. This can be cured easy if the mexicans, and other infected areas which have this virus try and act against it, but as Cue said, because it's a third party country, they don't have much resources, and the immune systems are pretty weak, and also, it can take as good as a couple of weeks (maybe 4 - 6 weeks) and a lot of areas are going to be restricted if it's that bad.

I agree with hyperknux, If it really was as bad as they say they would of restricted access to some areas or just block them off altogether.

The Swine flu is here in Georgia now -.-'
No confirmed cases yet according to the very little searching I did on Google. But with my luck, my school will probably have the first few cases.

There's been a couple of cases about 20 miles away from where I live. I'm not too freaked out.

Great, people are making LittleBigPlanet levels out of this. The level I saw used messages in the level promoting social health care and that corporations created it themselves. This is just so lame.

There are other REAL epidemics that need to be on media more, like "Porn continues to tear families apart!"

Hey guess what guys! I live in the state that had the first reported cases in the US, and only so many miles away from the city they were reported in! Whatever.

It's nothing more than a scare; it's merely a modified influenza strand (yes, modified). Same symptoms, the only reason people are dying from it is the same reason people die from influenza - extreme cases, lack of treatment. Given it's not easy to treat a new strand, people can still prevent it.

It's a frivolous thing. My school's already planning on shutting down as soon as a case is reported. Some schools here have already done so. Seriously guys, preventable, the likelihood of dying from it is about as much as from the common strand.

"Porn continues to tear families apart!"

What!? I don't watch porn myself, but how the heck does it tear families apart?

If anything I'd say it brings them closer.

Just kidding! It's off-topic but it's probably not on the news because it's been around, for, like...ever? It's hard to stop it because it's available to anyone now.

Well...just thinking about it worries me :P
Let's just hope people find a cure before this turns into an epidemy...
*cross fingers*

There have been 4 cases in my city in CA. I'm worried but I'm not going to panic about it.

Gee, am I going to have some stories to tell my grand children. An economic recession, a deadly sickness spreading around...what else could go wrong?!
The world suddenly exploding into a flaming orb of doom?

Today a kid was taken to the hospital after they fainted. All the kids are saying it was swine flu, but it could be anything... Like too warm of a classroom or overexhaustion in PE.(The PE teachers are cruel, they make you walk around the track and don't let you stop to take a breath or if you start getting cramps. Yeah, when walking starts giving you cramps, it's best to just walk it off, yeah.)

Hyperknux is right about the media. I go to WordPress and it's weird how I always see the words "Swine Flu" in posts on the front page. Also, in my previous post, I said that a guy had a swine flu prevention shot and had a cold. Well, I was reading (again) an article on Swine Flu on a CNN blog and one commented that she had a shot too, and in the next month, she had a heart attack. I'm still wondering why everytime I read that a person gets shot by some prevention, they get sick in a few days/months later. It's either the tools aren't clean or it's only a side effect.
