Oh come on. Quit the announcement of an announcement crap already SEGA; if you have something to say then say it. Making goddamn mountains out of anthills I swear.

Now that's not true either. Sonic 4 is still a lot closer to SRB2 than, say, Sonic Adventure. That said, they really aren't all that similar except for the fact they're both Sonic platforming games.
Sonic 4 is a blending of the new Sonic style and mechanics in a 2D realm. SRB2 is a blending of the old Sonic style and mechanics in a 3D realm. Setting aside any minor nuances, I'd say Sonic 4 is, by definition, what SRB2 isn't.

Not really. Sonic 4 is much closer to the classics in gameplay style than to the new games. The art style is new, yes, but the gameplay style is more akin to the classics, homing attack or not.

Hey, here's some bona-fide good news.

tl;dr SEGA has made real improvments since the PartnerNet build.

Awesome, hopefully this will shut everyone up.

Oh wait, no it won't, it's impossible to satisfy the Sonic community. There is always a few people that you simply cannot satisfy no matter how many people say the game is solid. (Even people who claim they've played the demo.) There will always be something for them to whine and complain about. I can't wait until this game is released and gives those whiners the finger. They will be proven wrong.

and is FUN to play, something a lot of people are missing.
It is fun. =D
I actually did use the Homing Attack a lot – and you know what? I actually ended up playing worse for it
more often than not you’ll end up getting hit by something. The Homing Attack works well if you put some thought into how to use it, but doesn’t if you’re just acting like A is a Turbo button on a 3rd party joypad
1, it’s still doable, and 2 – complaining about having to use a move is like complaining that you have to use the brakes in a racing game, or heal potions in an RPG, or vehicles in an FPS – they’re there to make a title more fun and to offer some choice.
it’s not Sonic 3 & Knuckles. This does not mean it’s a bad game by any means. I thoroughly enjoyed it, in many ways it was like playing the originals all over again, a breath of fresh air the franchise has needed for a long time. With this and Colours, Sega has a solid lineup for the Christmas period

It doesn't seem like it is a bad game. And its nice to see that there are some positive reactions toward the game.

So, they replaced the minecarts?

FUCK YESSSSSSS

I dunno how the touch gimmick would work in a fast paced game, but Labyrynth did kinda feel slower than the other zones in Sonic 1, so I guess the same applies here too. This doesn't sound anywhere NEAR as bad as the minecart level.

Looks good. I'm just hoping they re-work all the bosses. (Spoilers ahead for those who haven't seen the leak of the old final ver- Oops, I mean beta) I mean, having a remake of a boss for a zone or two is okay, but having them all be remakes, including the final one? That's just horseshit to me.

There was this one level in Sonic Advance (the second zone, I forgot the name) that used a similar torchlight (although you didn't hold it yourself). It worked pretty well there, actually.

It seems Sonic gets to carry a torch around the stage to light it up. Ugh, just enough to crash the Sonic 4 forum again. :/

The visuals look pretty nice, and it seems that the Mine cart has a really small part and has no tilt controls. Seems that the whole rumors of "OMG SEGA IS DELAYING TO PUT MORE CRAP" theory is proven wrong.

Oh, and this thing.

It seems as though Dimps and SEGA have really put forth effort to revamp that second act. Good for them. I hope that my impression of Casino Street's new second act will be positive as well. Like I said before, its specific gimmick was an interesting one, but the stage itself was nowhere near large or intricate enough to properly exploit it.
