SRB2Wii thread (v2.0.0 RC4, news update 27/11/2010 10:46)

Sorry for the piss poor question, but does the IOS (Homebrew) version support Wi-Fi?

Sorry for the noobish question of the day.

I'm afraid not. Wi-Fi isn't working in any build at the moment, although it will be working in the SRB2Wii/mini version in the next release. SRB2 won't be able to take advantage of it yet anyway since netplay is disabled in any non-x86 build of SRB2.

OKay, this thing definately needs a Menu when you press the home button instead of pausing. Because once you're in game, you have to hold the off button to turn it off. And I think the startup menu needs a bit of work personally. Just graphic wise a bit.

That can happen, I'll have a look into it.

Not much I can do with that, I can change the colours and the font I think, but thats it.

I'm sorry if i being to stupid but how exactly am I suppose to set this up. (a video setting it help or pictures would help me.)

Announcement on 27 November 2009:
Hey guys, the official download links have now become host to daily built SVN revisions (aka I accidentally overwritten them with my new SRB2Wii compilation script without realising that I put in the code to replace the old stuff on the website). Feel free to try them, although their stability can't be guaranteed!

Sorry about the slightly more than two month wait for a non-annoucement, but yeah, I'm back into working on SRB2Wii since school is finally out for me, I have a 3 month break to work on SRB2Wii!

Well that was fun. Once everything was pasted onto my SD card, I started it up and gave me an error before going to the in-game launcher. Something wasn't mounted right, it came after the srb2wii.img mount. I repasted my old backup and got it working, so it's not my Wii's fault. I'm using the IOS version.

I see. I haven't had a chance to try the latest SVN revisions on my Wii yet, so I haven't been able to properly test them. I'm about to commit a massive rewrite that will probably solve lots of issues though, I will update the download soon.

The wii one is not working has any one had this happened

Okay, this is one too many times of people not reading the first post and going straight for the download link.

PEOPLE, READ THE FIRST POST. OTHERWISE, I WILL NOT HELP YOU. End of story.

SRB2Wii v1.5.0 beta 1 has been released for testing (29/11/2009 14:10):
- First properly working build from the SRB2.org server. Due to the fact that I can't get superuser access on the SRB2.org server, SRB2Wii will have to recreate the filesystem image on first startup (takes 1-2 minutes).
- Uses latest SRB2 build from the ALAM SVN unstable branch, which includes working PowerPC assembly language code, which speeds SRB2 up slightly.
- Underlying SRB2Wii architecture has been almost completely rewritten, so no more errors from the shell and everything is more stable in general.
- 2-player Wii Remote support should REALLY work now, but I still can't test it due to me only having one Wii Remote.

TODO list for the final release of SRB2Wii:
--SRB2WII itself--
- Finish the rest of the SRB2Wii launcher functionality.
- Finish network support, and test what I can (Wi-Fi).
- Rewrite more portions of SRB2Wii (specifically the not rewritten portions of the launcher).
- Finish the SDL video driver (Alam).
- Modify the settings for ncurses to be more eye-catching.
--SRB2WII build system--
- Rewrite the SRB2Wii build system, so no more warnings and easier to modify.
- Make the build system create symbolic links to the libraries stored on FAT automatically so the name of the project can be changed easily and everything will be affected.
- Make the build system modify all the $NAME/$STAGE2 variables in all the files so the name of the project can be changed easily and everything will be affected.

Yeah, whenever I go onto SRB2Wii, I can't connect my controller.

Edit: Aaaaand Syncing doesn't work.

Edit 2: Also, it's the launcher that won't work.

Feels the same as the last stable one. I keep forgetting to delete my ERZ save file, but I was still able to walk a few steps further than before. Right now, I simply got stuck in the green laser room that goes up and down, due to the heavy spike lag. I was actually hoping this release would at least have menu controls working.

I guess in terms of gameplay, it's slightly faster than before. Still fun to play when you're not on big, laggy levels.

You'll have to wait for the conversion process to finish before connecting the Wii Remote; it will prompt you when you can connect the Wii Remote, a good rule of thumb is if the launcher is running you can connect the Wii Remote anytime.

Upon further testing, its been revealed that the Linux kernel can kill the conversion process, causing the system to tell you that the extraction failed and will reboot. I am looking into this problem and I will come up with a solution.

I never said this is a stable release. ;) But thanks for your comments, I want to give you guys the best experience possible with this.

Uh, that's the point. No error comes up (or message, whatever) that says I can connect my Wii remote, I get to the launcher, it says to hold the Wii remote sideways and when I press any button on the Wii remote it tries to connect but fails. Sorry if it didn't sound like it was supposed to.

Well, that's weird, it works fine over here. I'll see what I can do about it.

Mr. president, a question. okay i'm messin' with yah, but seriously. when i loaded up srb2wii, the screen looks green and pink and other random colors, but it's like a different color pallete. it's possible cuz i used srb2 (pc version) v 2.0 with srb2 wii v1.5. plus, i don't know the menu controls (other than select and back). can't select a different option or character. i don' t mean to critisize, but plz fix it. also, after i get an extra life, the controls mess up. =(
