OH YEAH, I'd also like to suggest Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen because it is da best movie EVARRRR. It's got robots disguised as hot babes, two funny black robots, totally radtastic EXPLOSIONS, and a good focus on the HUMANS!!!! Because, like, I'm a human, and it makes me feel like I've accomplished something when I've helped people out with things... They always yell at me for some reason though. Maybe it's my eccentricity. Why don't people like really happy people?!

Yeah, well even before I figured out the 4/1 posting date, it seemed pretty obvious that a Tim Burton fan would not be kissing up to Michael Bay.

Anyway, I just watched 2012 and Where the Wild Things Are this weekend. The former had me groaning at the thought that there was still at least an hour's worth of special effects to sit through. The latter, however, I heartily recommend to anyone who is still in touch with their childhood.

If you are not looking for an artistic and deep movie about childhood hidden beneath a fairly tame and simple story, then you probably won't get very much out of the movie. Like WALL-E its going to depend on how willing you are to invest yourself in the sentimentality of the movie.

Um.. sequel to the book? Well.. You could say that even though it's the plot of Through the Looking Glass (The Second Part of Carol's classic) with the Jabberwocky poem worked into it.

Just gonna bump this post for my own two cents. I didn't watch the movie but some of the criticisms against it sound very similar to the way I felt about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. However, as for the story, I recall Through the Looking Glass being about a chessboard with Alice going from square to square meeting strange people until she could be queen. What I heard of this movie, however, sounds more like a generic high fantasy movie where she's the chosen one to save them from the red-queen/queen-of-hearts

I like artistic movies, but considering that Tim Burton isn't bringing anything fresh, simply transposing a style he introduced already with the likes of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory... I don't plan on paying the price of admission.

I just got back from Fantastic Mr. Fox, and it is perhaps the best film I have seen in a long time. The animation is quirky yet full of charm and really is quality stuff. The writing is smart and sophisticated, even by the standards of non-animated films, and is supported by a wonderfully selected and dedicated cast of voice actors, including the superb George Clooney. I won't spoil anything here, but the plot is great in how it continuously manages to top itself, with each new development more madcap than the last.

The only criticism I have here is that the character development is a little flimsy. There's a whole lot of animals are hardly even introduced, and the pivotal character Rat shows up for two short action scenes before he's (rather anti-climatically) sent on his way. And I never got to know Mr. Fox's humble and likeable counterpart Kylie quite as well as I would have hoped. Nevertheless, Fantastic Mr. Fox is a great movie and an outstanding addition to animated film. Fantastic Mr. Fox has earned an A-.
Incidentally, I just watched this film as well (it's on DVD now; that post was from the theatrical release). It really is quite good, although if you're a Roald Dahl purist, you might be a bit at-odds with how the film reaches the point the book ends, and then keeps going. To be fair, though, I think the film works better like that - not to mention, a lot of the ideas it uses to keep itself moving along were apparently plotlines Dahl himself had come up with, but ultimately dropped (or maybe ones he'd conceived to work into a film adaptation; I forget which). Of course, I haven't read the book (or any Dahl book, for that matter) in over ten years, so my memories of it are a bit foggy. I know there are definitely aspects to it that the book didn't have (reading up on it a bit, for instance, Fox has 4 kids with nondescript personalities, while in the film we only have the gay different son, Ash, and his quirky-but-surprisingly-competent visiting cousin Kristopherson unintentionally stealing his spotlight), although honestly they just work. Either way, I recommend it quite wholeheartedly.

Although honestly, I'm left feeling somewhat unfulfilled after watching it. Maybe I kind of wish it went on for a bit longer, or wished the ending was a bit happier, but...

Well, I saw Princess and The Frog, and here's my thoughts on it.

PRINCESS AND THE FROG (Disney) - 9/10
Watching this movie from start to finish, here are my thoughts and points about the movie...

Facilier (AKA Shadow Man) is probably one of the most evil characters i've seen in Disney movies, he's a greedy son of a bitch who would really try anything to make lives miserable, even going as far as to attempt murder on the Sugar Baron guy (Don't remember his name, only his nickname). But Mama Odie is an awesome character, basically the exact opposite of Facilier.

The story was pretty cool, and it's been a long time since Disney had a movie like this (The last one being Home On The Range IIRC).

Well I went to see Diary Of A Whimpy Kid, and as for the movie I have to say it followed the first book pretty good, although some parts were added that weren't in the book, but it does a good reenactment of the book, and believe it or not but it was a funny movie(Some parts), although we barley had anyone at our movie theater go and see it(lol). As for a rating I'd give it like a 8/10

I... actually have a request.

Has anybody seen the Drawn Together movie yet? I love the show, but I'm not about to spend $15 on this latest release without knowing if it's worthwhile. So can anybody recommend for or against it?

Not all of them recent movies, but 12 Monkeys, Pan's Labyrinth, Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind, Memento, The Usual Suspects, Letters from Iwo Jima.
Can't think of many more right now.

Think! what are my favourite movies... ah yes.

My favourites would have to be a few classics like zathura or jumanji and believe it or not but I also like over the hedge, the haunted mansion and the south park movie, sure they might be relying on religion for humour but I still like the film. There could be over films I liked but they have absolutely phased out of my memory as of now.

EDIT: Do'h! I feel as if i'm going off topic here. Posting my favourites instead of reccomending movies to others

Classics? Zathura?
wat

Oh, I saw Alice and really didn't like it. If you enjoy Tim Burton's stuff, you'll definitely love this, but if you don't, you're gonna hate it with a passion.

If you'd like to see a movie that would make you laugh hysterically when you watch it, then I'd recommend The Room. It features superb acting, an original script, and the subplots ingeniously intertwine whilst remaining an important part of the story.

Scary Movie 4

Why? Its the most random movie on the planet. Sticking pervert jokes and twists on movies. If you are really serious and will freak out if you watch someone do something immature. Don't watch it. This movie is full of it.

Avatar
Amazing graphics! Really, this movie could be released in 2024 and still be considered futuristic. Today, we just get standard 2D movies. Then we get this 3D scy-fi movie that will blow your eyes away!

Ok.. maybe the story is generic.. but its still worth a watch. See it in 3D

I wish I could just post a macro here depicting how delightful I found this movie. Really though, if you like this kind of movies, you guys should watch the grandfather of terrible movies: Plan 9 from Outer Space. I didn't watch it through because it's undergone the same thing as Seinfeld has, which is that it's been so outright stolen/evolved/improved/massificated, that the original just isn't as impressive as it was back when it was first discovered. I mean, this guy invented the "saucer held by visible string", but when you see that in every B-movie/B-movie parody, it loses the appeal, you know.

12 Monkeys
Oh yeah, this one is rather good, featuring a young Brad Pitt and Bruce Willis back in the day when they were still respectable actors and not living cliches. While the story is just a giant plot hole that makes no sense at all, it does contain some unexpected plot twists and turns. Not perfect, but worthy of its superb director.

Scary Movie
No, just no. The Scary Movie was never funny to begin with, but it just got more and more immature with every installment. This is nothing more than quality and humor free junk for pubescent early-to-mid-teens, but unfortunately, it has some kind of cult following around the globe because of that.

Resident Evil : Degeneration

Because it's the ONLY good Resident Evil movie, and it's made by the RE team itself :3

Like I said, its different for everyone. My mom saw a part of the movie and laughed. It was when the guy takes pills, looks at it and then notices it is Viagra. You know what to happened next? Yup....

He then falls out the window and survives by landing on hi-

Scary Movie 4 sucked, but the first one was hilarious. Along came the parody genre and everything went down the shitter. It's quite sad, really, because I think Disaster Movie had some potential.

..I'll just take the "Its so bad, its good".

I've only seen Scary Movie 4. So I have no idea how good the others are. (Though, I read SM2 or 3 were the worst ones)
