Greg, You got people here who view the Reto forums. You got to expect this to get exposed here.

Go mess with GameFAQs, they're easier to fool.

It's actually a good thing that this Slicer picture is fake. This is not the second Sonic 2 (no pun intended), it's a new game. That means it should have NEW content. It's good if they want to go back to their roots, but that shouldn't mean stealing ideas from previous games.

second Sonic 2.

OFFTOPIC: I lol'd

ONTOPIC: Yea I know what you mean, they should have some original badnik concepts around that they haven't used at all however them using badniks is a good move...all we can do now is just wait for more news/screens.

Doubt it, Sonic Team isn't really the same as it was 10 years ago.
Hope there is no QTE's anymore. ;(

SegaOnline’s source claims that the game will only be for XBOX Live and the Playstation Network. That is something that has been hinted at previously by Sega employees. It looks increasingly likely that Wii users will be shutout of the next proper Sonic.
*Insert Nintendo Fanboy Rage Here*

Same thing here. Whenever I think of classic Sonic, I think of Nintendo. They were SEGA's top priority to overthrow in the 90s, and I'd really love to play a good game ESPECIALLY the Revival of Sonic on Nintendo's white box...

However, as for now, that's a rumor... But it's not a very nice sounding rumor.

Why sega? I thought you cared?

I feel the same like the rest of you...I feel sorta cheated out of sonic revival because it is downloadable

ITT: Opposite Day

It's posts like this that make me glad it's not coming to the Wii. It'll screw SEGA out of a lot of sales, if it's true, but it makes sense in a funny kind of way. Genesis era Sonic gameplay denied on a Nintendo console?

Clearly, the target demographic Sonic Team is shooting for is the "hardcore" gamer that plays Halo or God of War... not the "casual" gamer that enjoys the likes of New Super Mario Bros or Wario Land Shake It.

If its not either on Nintendo or PC, then I don't have to deal with all the drama associated with playing a new Sonic game and potentially enjoying it.... which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Anyway, this is just a rumor, but it could be true if Sonic Team IS trying to make this HD and doesn't want to bother seeing if it will work on the Wii, or maybe they just don't see Wiiware as a serious platform, which is understandable because "hardcore" gamers don't really pay attention to it anyway.

But I'm not a hardcore gamer, so I'll probably just be looking to buy MM9 and MM10 instead.

If it's not coming to the Wii, odds are is because (lol) it can't handle it. If that's the case, I'm curious of the scale of Needlemouse. The whole episodic rumor makes things even more interesting.

Pretty sure the jumping and collecting giant rings is for the Halo fans.
My "hardcore" fans only think of Sonic as a stupid creature that runs in circles.

The hardcore crowd would buy MM9+10. (10 looks terrible ATM)

Bigboi - Sonic 1 GBA... Sonic Classic Collection. Sonic Advance, Sonic Rush...?

He didn't say it is Genesis era games - He said it is Genesis era GAMEPLAY.
(AKA collecting rings on 2D stages, running around with loops and collecting Chaos Emeralds)

There's a bit more to Genesis-era gameplay than this. Running around with loops, collecting rings and chaos emeralds are part of nearly ALL Sonic games, new or old. The sole fact that Advance and Rush are 2D doesn't make them "retro" or something like that.

EDIT:
Earlier today, Dutch fansite SegaOnline posted information from an anonymous source claiming to have insider knowledge of Project Needlemouse’s development. The website ran the story as a rumour earlier today, before mysteriously disappearing from view. Key details that were revealed to SegaOnline included the game’s name, ‘Sonic 4′; that the game will only be released on Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network; and that this will be the first in a series of similar games. The website’s source claims that the game will be titled “Sonic 4: Episode 1″, but says that despite the implications, each ‘Episode’ will be a full game in its own right.
On top of this, the anonymous source has said there will be 7 Chaos Emeralds, a return of the ‘Zone’ and ‘Acts’ level structure, and that the game will begin in ‘Splash Hill Zone’ and finish in ‘E.G.G. Station Zone’.
That's what Wikipedia says. Seems like some fansite is puuling things out of their ass...

Not really, the newer sonic games are 3D and fast paced. Sonic Advance TOTALLY reminds me of Sonic 2. Similar Speed and levels.
