A game with HD sprites and handpainted backgrounds, I can certaintly understand. But it shouldn't look anything like that. Too much of that bland "next gen filter" going around.

Greg, if it was like that, it'd be a cluttered mess where the mass amounts of detail and effects would get in the way of gameplay, and that's not what Sonic's about.

He loves art so I can see why he would love the way those pictures look.
I doubt the game is going to look like that.

I try to ignore it, but not even knowing how will Sonic look like in ¨Needlemouse¨ annoys me. Please post any information about the game you may find, ok?

Well, they alwas change his look, (the biggest change was probably from Sonic Adventure 2 to Heroes).

But taking in count the STH2006 trauma, people will recognise these pictures better:

All in 2 years.

Except for the last screenshot, I think it looks nice if you're at a high speed. But if you're standing still.. I dunno.

Oh, the classic games were fast all right - you just had to work for it back then. Nowadays it's usually a single button press away. If anything the problem is the consistency and context of the speed rather than the speed itself as a value. One-button sound-barrier-breaking is a nice thrill initially but it becomes stale once you realize it's cheap as all hell and generally doesn't make for very good level design.

Ok, it would be nice if you could mention at least 3 nowday games that have that feature on.

When I first saw the Sonic Rush 1 trailer before the release, I thought you would only boost by actually reaching a good enough speed. But then I realized you just press a button when I got the game.

This is slightly off topic, but...

...Good GAWD, a character as abstract as Sonic sure doesn't lend himself well to good 3D stills. This is one of the many reasons why I hope this new game is 2D with hand-drawn sprites, not 2.5D with 3D models.

Okay. Mind explaining how? As long as Sonic and the ground he was running on was visible it would work, right?

Exactamundo. And you may as well be right for being doubtful. Where is the chance that SEGA will actually do something like that with their graphics?

The pictures you posted contained mist and blur, two things that I personally wouldn't want in the foreground of the level. I wouldn't mind intricate levels of detail as long as I can distinguish one thing from another.

The first and second one look a bit on the unplayable side, I'll agree. I like the third one, however, since it's got sharp visuals, and it just looks nice in general. Try to imagine that image scrolling along at 60 FPS. I know I would certainly like to see that in action.

Looking at Sonic Team's troubles. It either going to be 30FPS and for PS3, it will jump around. :) Just like SU....

Lol, I do like the third one. But it may strain the eyes if sonic is going to get bigger and smaller every 2 seconds.
