There's a rather well-known "feature" of the WZC service in Windows XP and Vista which has yet to be removed that makes it virtually impossible to play games or even use voice chat on a wireless connection smoothly. Basically, the stupid service tells your wireless card to search for SSIDs every 60 seconds - causing a long pause of about 4 seconds while it searches and stopping all networking in the process.

On XP, I used Linksys' driver software to connect instead of WZC, which prevented this issue (albeit using more than necessary memory for the stupid graphical UI). Linksys has not released working drivers for Vista for the WMP54G RT2500-based card. Ralink's own optional software only serves as a wrapper for WZC.

What I ask for is a solution to it. I've looked at Wireless FiXP and could not find it, and I've tried disabling the service altogether like some guides say works, however this just kills the connection.

System info:
Wireless Card - RT2500-based PCI card, WMP54G
Operating System - Vista x86 Ultimate

Flawless fix at that. If only it ran as a service. Thank you!
