Woah, I got a lot of replies!

I haven't read them all yet, but I think I found a better button configuration. (From some of your ideas and some of mine.) Infortunately, I can't use mouse-look well because I have a touchpad, and it doesn't work so well with mouse look. (Although, I still use it sometimes.) Now I get how all of you look down while your in the air and fire so quickly! I'll have to use my USB mouse. Anyway, thanks for the help!

EDIT: What's the difference between the two different types of ring slinging?

I don't see how people can play without strafing and mouselook. It's downright impossible

Actually, I never used to play with strafing, (untill a year ago) and I find mouselook annoying. My hands aren't close enough to the mouse to aim quickly, and my playing speed goes down by 3/4 when I hold my right hand on the mouse all the time. I only use mouse when I have rail and stand in a safe area.

I don't see how people could be fast in races or matches when playing with mouse alone or with gamepad. Speed thok, Speed thok, and speed thok is not how I think about fast. The controls after/before the speed thok!

Oh...yeah, controls.

Mouse4: lightdash/tossflag (I wish)
Wheel down 1: normal ringtoss

For real! I was wondering if I cold plug a PS2, Gamecube, Nintendo 64, etc. controllers into your computer, so now you answered my question. Do you have to buy an adaptor or download any programs? How do you do it, and where do I get what I need?

Thanks so much!

I use something similar to a ps2 joystick (Logitech Rumblepad 2) and sometimes use a mouse for aiming. I use first person mode in match and race.

Mouselook = on

Left analog stick = movement without strafing
left click = ring toss
right click = jump
middle click = strafe on
L1 button = ring toss normal
L2 button = spin

Hey cool, I'm learning how to use my mouse!

Mouse1 (left click) = Jump
Mouse2 (right click) = Ring throw (Normal)
Mouse3 (Pressing the mousewheel down) = Strafe mode, AND Mouselook

I use two configs, keyboard and joystick, as well as mouselook.

KEYBOARD:
foward = up / w
backward = down / s
strafe left = a
strafe right = d
turn left = left
turn right = right
jump = spacebar
spindash = X (analog to the action button in Sonic Heroes PC)
shoot = control
lightdash = shift
rotate camera left = o
rotate camera right = p
look upwards = pgup
look downwards = pgdn
look center = end
reset camera = c

JOYSTICK:
foward = up
backward = down
strafe left = L1
strafe right = R1
turn left = left
turn right = right
jump = button 3 (I always forgot the order of the buttons in the PSX pad)
spindash = button 2
shoot = button 1
lightdash = button 0
look upwards = L2
look downwards = R2
look center = select
reset camera = start

I don't use all those keys, but just the ones I feel better to use. When gameplay involves shooting (match, CTF, tag) I use the mouse to turn, otherwise I use either the keyboard or the joystick.

I'll Begin said:
W = Forward
S = Backward
A = Strafe Left
D = Strafe Right
Left Mouse = Jump
Right Mouse = Spin
Q = Lightdash
Space = Ring Slinger (E for normal)
F = Hold for Mouselook (having mouselook always on seems a bit unnatural in SRB2 for some reason, maybe because I use Software Rendering)
T = Talk
C = Reset Camera
~ = Console
1 = Taunt
2 = Screenshot
3 = Addbot (for SRB2JTE)

Here are my SA Mode controls:
WASD = Move
Up = Jump
Down = Spin
Left and Right = Camera controls
Everything else the same.

This it's like the 3 button mouse.

Left Click = Spin / Hold for Spin Dash

Middle Click = Light Dash

Right Click = Spin Jump

I handle very good like this reminds me of a SEGA CONTROLER.
