SRB2Kart Input Lag

I've decided to pick up SRB2Kart again but I've ran into a problem. Singleplayer or multiplayer, regardless of what server I'm in, I have a sizeable amount of input delay. I don't have VSynch enabled.

Welcome to SRB2's netcode, latency and input lag is normal, there is no solution for it other than to join servers that have a minimal amount of ping.

I think he means in single player. Yes, it is normal in multiplayer; but does sound weird that single player (specifically, Record Attack and hosting your own game, regardless of being in LAN or Internet, or solo or splitscreen) has any kind of input lag.
