Respawning Gargoyles?

I need to know if there is a way to make a gargoyle respawn after falling down a bottemless pit. I know that this was doable back in 1.08, but it doesn't seem to work in 1.09. (at least not by the same methoids.) Anyone know if this can be done? :x

Edit: I was told I should report this as a bug, so I guess you can forget about this topic.
