You can not divide by zero.

Dividing by zero theoretically causes the universe to implode. That's why computers and calculators give an error when you try. It's a method they use to stop the universe from imploding, but it's also to stop the calculator from crashing. People are still figuring out how powerful a supercomputer needs to be to divide by zero, but the day someone does make a supercomputer capable of dividing by zero, the universe will implode, even if they use a simulated environment, because there's just no way existence can handle dividing by zero.

what the hell

dividing by 0 should just give you 0, right? use it like 1st grade math

YOU HAVE 100 COOKIES
YOU GIVE THEM TO NO ONE; NOT EVEN YOURSELF AND BLOW THEM UP SO THEY DONT EXIST

how many cookies do you have left?

Ermmm........ 22?

0. It's like dividing the blasted cookies into numbers for each person. There is not a single one, so no-one would get one.

If a tree fell and no one was around to hear it does it make a sound? Yes. Just like 0 if you divide 0 by 0 you get 0.

wow i never know that a tree made a sound when no ones there *sarcastic*

On September 21, 1997, a divide by zero error in the USS Yorktown (CG-48) Remote Data Base Manager brought down all the machines on the network, causing the ship's propulsion system to fail.
That is how bad zero is?! god thats a evil little number.

No. 0/0 has been declared in the calculus books as an INDETERMINATE TYPE. 0/x = 0. x/0 = DoesNotExist. 0/0 = INDETERMINATE.

However, let's say we have 1/x, where x starts out as 5 and it gets closer and closer to 0. It starts at .2 and approaches infinity. Often, when finding limits, if x approaches c, and f'(c) = division by zero but f'(x) is not, then f'(x) probably approaches infinity (or negative infinity) as x approaches c.

Math totally FTW.
