Infinity ring problem?

Okay, so in the match gametypes (CTF, Match), when I get an infinity ring and shoot using the normal ring shoot key, and when I have the infinity ring selected, my rings are not shot, and instead my infinity rings are used.

Can this at least be changed so that, when I have infinity ring selected, and shoot using the normal ring shoot key, the infinity rings won't be used, but instead my rings will be used?

Intentional behavior. You can only use infinity rings when you have them selected, and you can't get around using them by using fire normal.
