I read the sticky about making characters but it is confusing to me. Like how do you change the colors of the characters and stuff?

Oh yeah, that kinda got removed in this guide, just type "STARTCOLOR" in S_SKIN lump.

STARTCOLOR = 112


This changes green to what ever the PREFCOLOR is.
 
Note: ENDCOLOR has been deprecated. It does nothing. The endcolor has always needed to be 16 more than the STARTCOLOR, so the game, as of 1.08 (yes it's been that long!) just uses startcolor+16 for the endcolor.
