I mean Modern Sonic we have is basically The boost formula sonic, and really doesn't play like Adventure sonic.Technically it doesn't hurt anybody to create a mod, but I just don't see the appeal of an "Adventure Sonic".
There's already a great Modern Sonic mod out there. What would even be different other than cosmetics? I don't think the bounce attack and a wacky spindash are enough reason for me to download yet another Sonic for this game. Pretty much every other move from the Adventure era would just be annoying, like the rocket accel and the magic gloves, but I guess it'd be interesting to see if the mod author could actually revamp some of the shitter moves and make them viable. It's just in concept, I don't get this.
Other then maybe the light dash you still have other moves you could add to this version that's not used anymore.
Few examples: Bounce, Summersault, Spindash/Spamdash as a standard move for him, the more floaty jumps, even the homing attacks properties are a little different in Adventure, it's a little more weighty and you bounce off of enemies higher, homing attack also doesn't target things above it as well so you have to try and line up with it a little more precisely, Light speed attack, if you really wanna stretch it also mystic melody.
But what mainly sets it apart is just weight and jumps of adventure sonic.
But even if they are all called modern Sonic they still have differences in the era's they came from.
I understand why it's not super enticing just at the concept for you as these are abilities done before, but it is in the concept stage still, so they could develop way more, or not, but I suggest mostly waiting for a release, but it's fine to be a bit skeptical about it.
I'm still happy to see it just because I think a lot more can be done with that moveset, and having Boom Sonic, Classic Sonic, Modern Sonic, and Dreamcast Sonic in one team would be fun.
I didn't check discord link, so I'm not 100% aware if it's confirmed to play 100% like SA1/2 Sonic or if it has creative liberties
