I use a modified WASD setting.

I set the Left Shift key to mouselook (un-mouselook, in my case), right mouse button for jump, and the mouse's scroll button for spinning. I set my mousespeed settings slightly faster than the default's. With chasecam off, these controls are primarily effective for ringslinger games.

As I have no drivers, I use my Emu controls: A is Jump, S is Spin, D is ringsling, z/x are lightdash, c is reset camera.

Ew, analog. This is supposed to be srb2, not Sonic Adventure. :P

Anyway, I use:

Left arrow = Turn left;
Right arrow = Turn right;
Up arrow = forward;
Down arrow = Backpedal;
Z/Mouse2 = Jump;
X/MouseWheelDown = Spin(Dash);
C/Mouse3 = Strafe;
Mouse1 = Ring toss;
MouseWheelUp = Ring toss normal;
Shift = Toss flag. (as if I use adventure mode and lightdash...)

Occasinally I'll use my PS2-Esque USB controller, I'll describe each button as being it's PS2 counterpart, and what it's labeled as on the controller:

X/2 = Jump
□/1 = Spin(Dash)
R1/6 = Strafe right
L1/5 = Strafe left
Left analog and/or D-pad = Movement (forward, backpedal, turn Left, turn Right)
Right analog = Look up/down, strafe left/right.

That's about it.
