These are the rules for the SRB2 Message Board. While I understand that these rules are long and boring, read them, as ignorance will not be considered an excuse.

1. Generally speaking, keep the board to the content that can be broadcast on network TV (Think "The Simpsons") and use your own common sense as to what's allowed or not allowed on the board. For those of you who seem to be incapable of figuring this out, the following is forbidden:

* Sexual content, including pornography
* Excessive cursing
* Illegal material (Warez, free MP3s, ROMs, etc.)

2. This forum uses proper English. This means that you should type your posts as if you were going to hand it in to the English teacher. While a little leeway will be given if you are not a native speaker, there are some things that just have no excuse:

* Use capitalization rules properly. The first word in a sentence, proper nouns, and “I” are capitalized. Always.
* Use punctuation. It’s very hard to read posts with no periods or commas.
* Use correct spelling. Occasional mistakes are fine (we all make them), but if your post misspells every single word, then that's unacceptable.
* Don’t use l33tspeak, internet acronyms (LOL, U, etc.), or text message abbreviations.
* Use paragraph breaks. No one wants to read a page of text with no spaces in it at all.

3. No spam. Create topics about the ruler of pie and your website somewhere else. Do not post useless lines, such as "ok", "lol", etc., as they clutter up the forum and don't add anything to the discussion. Placing links to your website in your signature IS acceptable, however.

4. Keep any arguments you have with other members outside of the board. Likewise, flaming, or mindless insulting of another user, is strictly prohibited. Trolling, or posting to intentionally disrupt forum activity and/or to generate an angry response, is strictly prohibited in all forms.

5. Don’t ask for netgames in the forum. Use the chat room or the master server to set up netgames.

6. Don’t post a topic for a project you have not made yet. You should at least be at the point where you can show screenshots before you make any posts about it.

7. Don’t ask for a lock or other administrative action if you aren’t an admin. The administrators are fully capable of moderating the board without your help.

8. Keep all criticism constructive. "Your character is a crappy recolor" is not acceptable. "This character isn’t unique in any way. You need to make something that isn’t just another hedgehog" is fine, however.

9. The administrators are charged with maintaining order on the board using their own discretion. They are granted authority to do whatever they feel is necessary to accomplish this. If you don't like it, don't come back...
This is seriously starting to get on my nerves, this isn't a chat room, this isn't a rom forum and this sure as hell isn't a damn SPAM FORUM.

Now, I know I haven't exactly been here for a long time, but if you can't abide by your own simple rules, then people are going to start leaving, It takes all of Five seconds to spell check your post, and ten seconds to read through it.

Before posting, please, Read through your post and think; "Is this relevant to the topic?" "Have I spelled these words correctly? I better spell check it just incase" "Am I flaming?" "Wouldn't this be settled easier with a pm?"

Now I'm expecting to get replys like:
"OMGZ IF U DUN LYKE IT DEN LEAVE!!1"
Which really isn't the answer, the rules ARE there for a reason.
"OMGZ DIS ISN'T SKEWL I DUN WANNA SPLL STUF!!!!1:x:x" But it takes all of two seconds to type "Your" instead of "ur", and it makes you a hell of a lot more understandable.

Good work Reapah!
Nobody has thought of reposting the rules in rant form yet.
Maybe now all these problems will magically be fixed! *sarcasm*

Dude, the point of this thread isn't to "magically fix the problem" It is to make the problem more AWARE to forumers and mods, and to let the people who are doing this know that it is against the rules, and that it shouldn't be tolerated, and another thing that me and crim have just been talking about on aim, people who have been around the forums for a while, or have contributed something (wads etc..) seem to be IMMUNE to the mods, and it's just not fair, the biggest example of this is bigboi.

Believe me, the people who do follow the rules are
quite aware of these problems. The people who don't follow
the rules on the other hand, most likely won't change... anytime
soon anyway. I mean, there is a reason why the rules are posted
on the forum and before the forum "welcome" page on srb2.org.
Besides, people other than staff have tried emphasizing the rules
before and well, that just seems to result in a swift lock.
There will always be "n00bs" and "newbs" in games and forums.
That is a fact of life. What? You expect everyone to be born with
the knowledge everyone else has instantly?

I honestly think annoying and useless posts and "newb"
type behavior is the least of the forums' problems.
Lately, bots seem to have been registering daily, probably
due to the publicity in game magazines. Anyway, I think another
serious problem that's failed to be mentioned is
"ban immunity." I can understand this human response,
however it is not efficient at all. It seems that people who have been
with the project for sometime and are known (ie: the forum or irc) seem
to have the ability to say or do whatever they please without getting
in trouble, just because they are known. That is simply unfair!

I'm not going to go ahead and type a direct reply, i'm just going to copy and paste this convo:
[10:50] crim: OMG! Take that off!
[10:50] crim: I don't agree in mentioning names.
[10:50] Reapah: ... No, you shouldn't be such a slow typer <<
[10:50] crim: and don't use my name in agreeing with you
[10:51] Reapah: .. you did that yourself in the very next post O.o
[10:51] crim: Well, I didn't mention names for a reason.
[10:51] Reapah: and yeah, I put a name in, I don't give a damn, I'm not going to sugar coat it just because I might get banned.
[10:51] Reapah: That's to do with the corrupted mods and admins, If they are going to run the forum that way, then it's not worth even being there.
[10:52] crim: True...
[10:52] crim: But, I really don't suggest you using names.
[10:52] crim: Seriously.
[10:52] crim: That's just asking for trouble... and it's rude in general.
[10:52] crim: I think the admins know very well who we are talking about.
[10:53] Reapah: Thing is, I want them to know, and the rest of the board, that it's not acceptable, and if they don't do something about it soon, they are going to drive the members away, weither I make a topic about it or not.
[10:53] crim: You're right.
[10:53] crim: But, things won't change.
[10:53] Reapah: No one want's to be on a board where there is a rule for one set of people and another set of rules for the other.
[10:53] crim: If it got like that in the first place...
[10:53] crim: it most likely won't change.
[10:54] Reapah: You have no faith XD

And I am sure this topic will be locked, which will only further prove my point that this forum isn't running the way the rules suggest it should.

The uncorrupt mods and admins are doing all they can, but I agree with you, some mods and admins are corrupt, nor will they be de-admined or modded due to some of them were here when the game was being made, they helped out.

Yeah, I can agree. Besides, isn't this backseat modding? Not EVERYONE has to post topics like this hoping to get a sticky. We do have mods for a reason...

and it's just not fair, the biggest example of this is bigboi

When you can point out one of BigBoi's posts that were wrong, then talk. Telling a user that he should be using grammar, correct spelling, etc, last I heard, was still within the rules.

We've been over this before in that other topic. We're aware there's a problem, and we're working to fix it. It's not something that just happens overnight.

Now, on to the conversation that took place about half-way down the topic: Seperate rules? Corrupt mods? Ban immunity? What the heck are you guys talking about? Everyone here follows the same rules, none of the mods are corrupt as far as I know, and no one is immune to the banhammer. I have no idea where you guys are getting this stuff, but we're being as fair as we can possibly be. I don't care who you are, if you break a rule, you're getting a warning.

Also, he currently has 1 warning against him for Flaming/Trolling. Trust me, he doesn't have this "ban immunity".

And just in case there's still anyone out there that thinks we have seperate rules for people that work on the game, take a look at this:
