45 degree rotational sprite making & color changes

I'm kinda being a n00b and attempting a Meta Knight wad. Here's what I've got so far:

My problem comes in with the sprites that would be 45 degrees off of that. What is the best way to judge the correct dimensions for the features at such an angle. I need criticism (constructive)
Please help with suggestions (also critiquing the current sprites would help).

Also, how do you specify a certain part of a character to be the part that changes when you change the color in Multiplayer?Answered. Thank you, Nitro and Dark Warrior

Would you advise the cape? Becuase that's kinda what I'm thinking.

Oh, and I was looking at the wiki and it said that if I made the corresponding purple cape color the startcolor, that would change so I could have it dark purple in single player and any color in multiplayer. Is that correct?
 
Yeah.

I don't know why the whole "the colors you want to change must be green" thing is still going around, but seriously, this is not the case. Any color group can change colors.
 
Actually, the color remapping always has a max set of 16, so it doesn't really matter. =P
And what does PrettySRB2 have that's green-only?
