1.08 Bug Reports

I was talking about gamedata.dat being saved in the current directory at the time SRB2 is run, even if the current directory is some weird place. Isn't that what you were referring to when you asked "is that a bug"?

Oh.

Nevermind then.

A couple more bugs, though I suspect they've been found already:

* If you go into the network game options before hosting a network game and try to change the settings around it looks like they're not being changed when in fact they are. If you then host a game, any settings that don't revert to default when starting a game will be changed.

* Which leads into this bug. Certain network game settings, despite being saved in the configuration file, are reset to default when you host a game, while others are only reset to default when you start SRB2.

I found a bug as well. I was playing a split screen game in Triad Trials, and it was a tag game. Tailspickup was off, for the reason that we could tag each other physically. Anyway, he ran into a teleporter, whose destination thing is on the floor. I made a joke I was going to telefrag him. Anyway, when I followed (he had not moved from the destination), instead of fying, like he would in any other FPS, I was placed under him, under the floor. I know I can just work around this, but it is a bug nonetheless, so help?

Actually, telefragging might not be a bad idea... it certainly deals with the "teleporting into an occupied space" problem effectively.

Oooh! I just remembered a bug I found a couple nights ago that I forgot to mention:

* The autoaim feature will lock onto item boxes.

Reminds me of a bug I found in Descent 3 years ago where I watched a homing-missile robot fire missiles at a guide-bot powerup for 2 minutes straight before I inched too close and he started firing at me instead!

Here's another bug, though I suspect this one may've been found already too:

* If you play a single player game on Very Hard then switch to hosting a multiplayer game of any mode and any skill level no one will drop their rings when they are hit until you go back any play single player on a lower skill level... or quit the game obviously.

I highly suspect no one's noticed this, but being a Quake 3 player and an expert with the railgun in said game I do...

* The crosshairs in low resolutions are too far right by 1 pixel and too far right by a couple pixels in high resolutions. (Both software rendered and OpenGL rendered.)

I knew something was up with the list server...

* If more than one person is hosting a game the list server forgets people, regardless of connection quality. (To put this more accurately, I've had servers going for hours on end without any problems with the list server, but if someone creates another server and I type listserv my server is NEVER on the list! Also, if someone already has a server going and I create a server their server gets knocked off the list when I type listserv, but then if after a moment I end the netgame and type listserv theirs is back in the list. My connection is 3mbps ADSL with 1mbps upstream, and one day when I had a very laggy internet connection for some strange reason my server stayed in the list for the 2 hours it was up for, but sometimes I'll start a game and two minutes later it's not in the list server anymore, but then when I stop trying to host someone else's ends up in the list moments later.)

I dunno what's happening but it's certainly not just a pinging issue and so long as only one person is hosting a listed game there doesn't seem to be any issues.

EDIT:

I copied this from the HTML page for the list server not long after I initially posted this bug. There's two games running, but at one point one of the games was listed with the other game's IP address! Could be relevant...

Not sure why this happened, but again, it has to do with the List Server...

* I had a server going for awhile alongside someone else's server. Both my server and his were being reported correctly by listserv. Just before I was about to end my server I type listserv and see the other person's server in the list twice! (Same IP address on both entries.) Mine wasn't in the list. I decide to go another round of chaos and then type listserv again and his server is still in the list twice. I then end my server and type listserv again and his server now only appears once in the list. When I checked out the HTML page for the list server afterwards there were no unusual entries in the recent server list.

ahh, when the meesage comes in,the server starts adding the servers into the list, it checks the ip address of the connection, it's 4.247.16.218, then the masterserver goes to add the other one into the list, it's doesn't check the ip of the newer connection. or something?, darn, anyone know a realy good C++ programer here?

I'm not exactly sure if this is a glitch or not, but when I add MIDIs into the game, some of the music gets lost. That is, you can only hear the background music towards the end, or some instruments sound different.

That happens... I think it's because SRB2 limits the number of channels to 32 by default or something. I kicked mine up to 1000 and everything sounds fine

This bug happened quite a while ago. I just never remembered it 'till now.
In match, if Tails is carrying a player, and that player shoots Tails while Tails has no rings, Tails will die, and when he does that go up, then down die thing, and so will the carried player, as though Tails is still holding the player. Although the carried player will not fall through the floor with Tails. Wait! there's more! If Tails presses a button to go back to the start point before he falls through the floor, the carried player will hover in the air, still acting as though he's being carried. The player will fall if another player steps under him.
Sorry if this glitch was repeated before.

Does it ever crash when that all happens?

One of the entries from your errorlog.txt led me to believe that it did.

How do you fix the sound channels, then?

While in-game, press whatever button you press to open the main menu.
Options, and I think, Game options. The 'Number of sound channels' option should be there. If not, look around the other options.
I know it's not in 'Sound Options'. That's only volume control.
