First of all, a massive shoutout to romineblox0 who started porting this pack and did probably most of the work.
Let's start with a bit of history. In January 2013 I released a pack called Orsland, which contained maps I made when I was 11-13 years old, and it really showed. Nevertheless...
I can't believe I'd see an appropriate thread to post this time to. Quite lucky that my only custom level speedrun in 2.2 fits such a specific question. Final Demo Zone with Emeralds in 3:53.97 as Sonic.
I remember being so satisfied with myself after beating the Final Demo. Later I found out about 2.0 and realized I wasn't as good as I thought I was. ERZ2 at the time and its wind tunnel section that resulted in some game overs, but it was quite rewarding to finish the full game.
At some point years ago then-teenage me tried to low key break every rule with the signature. Ha ha ha, swear words, ha ha ha. What a comedian I felt like. What I have now was just a quick replacement for that edginess, that I've kept since.
Yeah, fair enough. After all it takes some effort to get the emeralds in the first place. Considering I regularly abuse the game mechanics myself, I may have come out of my lane criticising intended features. I still kinda think it's strange
To be honest, I think continues are against the spirit of the challenge of completing the game without damage, which is how I've seen ultimate mode. Can't really talk for everyone though. After all the golden monitors exist, providing a small lifeline in some levels.
Oof, that's real unfortunate. Not my run, but here's the bug in action, showing what happens right before the bug, in case devs or someone more knowledgeable, wants to look at it and maybe see what causes it: https://youtu.be/WRmeZsXCsMA?t=7972
Haha grats for doing a run with robo-hood, really not the easiest character choice, and it requires some planning. Fun to see the emeralds too. Sorry for posting without a time, but I just wanted to congratulate Majro for doing it
I discovered some version of the Final Demo somewhere between 2005-2007 (too long ago to really remember) from a disk full of freeware stuff. Back when such a network connection that could easily download a game wasn't necessarily a standard, at least on the countryside.
The background colors go wild after you exit a demo that you start from the intro cutscene. It also seems to use a darker palette if you start the demo from the title screen.
A couple of years ago a glitch was patched that allowed you to cheat score in record attack. It's back, but has to be executed in a different way.
Select a saved game by pressing enter and exit simultaneously. If you get transferred to title screen, you can take the saved game's score and...
There's a twitch VoD already, and hopefully a permanent video later. So, you can watch the run in https://www.twitch.tv/videos/435344606?t=02h21m10s now.
