What in the world is SRB2 Workshop?

Why does everyone keep parroting this argument? It's been explained enough times already. Sega itself is perfectly fine with fanworks of their IPs as long as people don't make money off of them. Respecting artists and their works is a completely different thing and rests on simple interpersonal decency. It really isn't difficult.
True, but there's nothing stopping Sega from saying otherwise at any time afterward.

Infact, SEGA even aired one of the groups that were in 2011 to 2023 (kinda because there working on there own game, and mania 2 didn't happend, which I didn't want to happend because this was literally a brithday title. All though forces clearly made some lore in it). Which was Christian Whitehead (Also known as The Taxman) and Stealth. Inculding others from Mania in 2017, which is amazing because we all (and let's be honest here) we never get to see sega let sonic fans in there games. But it is true (sometimes) but it's nice to see more people getting in the company.

so it's alright because Sega said so? What about fangames for other IPs like Mario? are the fans in the wrong because nintendo didn't say it was okay?
I mean, YEAH. If you make a mario fan game, you know what your getting into, you know that Nintendo can take down your fan game if they every so choice, and they have the right to do so, it sucks yeah but that's because mario is nintendos, and they can pick and choose if they want people to use him or not.

Of course, but they also have the right to make things non-reusable, because it's something they made.
But why are we being hypocritical, adding copyright laws when SEGA is letting it slide? Why can't we? And before you say, "its a fan project", they chose to work on it. SEGA is a corporation that has to make Sonic games. Modders dont. It feels so wrong to say, "dont use my stuff kthx" when SEGA is like sure whatevs

Bro just took the words out of my mouth. why be THIS defensive about mods for a fangame but say it's okay for you to do it because Sega doesn't tear though your house to stop you?
