I think tag characters would be a good idea. That also means new gametypes. I was just playing sonic advance 3 not to long ago.

Guys, the whole reason the character system was nerfed in the first place was as a transitional measure...a way of eliminating the shortcuts to overpowered custom characters for the time being, while the devs create a better and more flexible system. So yeah, it goes without saying that the character system will eventually be denerfed. We probably shouldn't rush this thing; it'll happen when it happens.

Well, the thing I don't understand is why it had to be nerfed in the first place if we already had a submissions system set in stone. If someone posted up an unbalanced character, wouldn't we just... get rid of it?

This is the minor problem. The major problem is on netgames being filled with trash. :C

Ever hear of distribution through Youtube or other channels?
The same would go for maps too, though. So what? If anything, they'll just use it in the Casual room and we'd hardly ever have to deal with them anyway.

Well, the Casual Room didn't exist back when they first decided to nerf the characters...and they'd hardly go back to a system known to cause such problems, would they?

Since they have ways to keep it from happening now, wouldn't unnerfing it be a good idea? (Well, it's a good idea anyway.)

A way to make custom opening and Credit sequences that can utilize moving images, multiple images at once (possibly sub images, See also Opening Sequence), and being able to keep text between pictures.

Clever use of tic-long cutscenes can simulate moving images.

That would explain the animated peel out in the opening, but not how to display a frame of the peel out, Sonic's body, and the background at the same time without making it all one picture

Serious suggestion:

Ingame console text warning upon hosting a server that alerts you if your server is showing ping unknown on the MS, and thus you have a problem on your end messing up the connection. Similarly there should be a console alert that detects when you've got it working.

The former at least would save people a trip to the MS to make sure it's working right; "Master Server updated successfully" does not tell you shit in this regard.

New Gametype:

Pickle (Don't ask about the name not sure why it called that.)
In real life pickle is played with at least 3 people. Everyone who is not "It" runs between two bases trying not to be hit by the "It" person. Every time they make it to a base they get a point. To become "it" they must be hit by a ball of some sort the "it" people have.
This could work for Srb2 as well. We could use the Tag system, but just add points to it. Every player gets points for making it to a base, they can only stay there for a small amount of time (10 seconds or so). The "it" Players would try to shoot them before they get to a base. When one is shot they switch places, "it" is a runner, and runner is now "it". (Old "It" would get twice the amout for making a base, "die" and start on a base.) This would be a great gametype for CTF maps, as they have two bases and different ways to get there. Yeah, people might just try to camp out on a base, but then they won't get points. This is basicly Tag, with purpose, a place to get to and a reason.

-Green Flower Act 1 & Techno Hill Act 1 are, in all honesty, way out of their league now that 2.0 has arrived.
They should be heavily looked over, re-modeled, and extended to match the rest of the levels that we have now.

-Before joining a server, there should be some ways to see what .wad files it has.

-Maybe bring back the seasonal changes that the levels made in 1.09.4 according to the date you computer was set to.
(I don't know if 2.0 removed this, but its not working for me anymore...)

THZ1 will get extended and revamped, AFAIK. GFZ1 will get some slight revamps, but nothing major, and it will stay as short as it is. GFZ2 will also be de-ugly-fied, especially in those tall rooms.

It's called the Master Server page, which is on this very forum.

It was removed entirely, because of the numerous problems it caused with netgames.
