Emerald Coast in SRB2!

Emerald Coast in SRB2! 1.3

Really good from what I was able to play! Super faithful to the original while taking some creative liberties where it's necessary.

Unfortunately I ran into an issue where I couldn't finish the stage due to the loading zone right after the lighthouse being missing. I tried playing without any other addons but still got stuck there anyway. Any ideas why this may be happening? Other than that, I really enjoyed this!

it should be working, i just checked its working fine, are you going into the tunnel fully? idk what else the problem could be is it like crashing or something?

Aw yeah, this is happening!

This is indeed Emerald Coast from Sonic Adventure (1998) in Sonic Robo Blast 2 (Also 1998). The attention to detail in porting the level, and the creative liberties to make it work in SRB2 show that a lot of love and care was put into this.
There are a few issues I found:
There are a lot of broken and uneven slopes, which could be fixed up with a quick polishing pass.
The wall running script works very poorly with the flow of the level. It's a bit too jank and I just ended up jumping off the floor slopes instead in places where I could.
LWATER is a horrible texture and seeing it loop into the horizon is particularly agonizing. I would recommend, for a similar color but a better texture, using DSSBFLR4, and putting it into the skybox instead of a horizon effect within the level itself. This will ensure that the texture loops less often, which will alleviate a lot of crust.

Great job, and Welcome to Releases!

Way past cool!
For someones first level/map this is honestly really well made. A lot of passion and love was put into this and that is insanely evident just by the secrets alone. I got all the emblems and such before making this review and from me playing the level outside of the wall run area (Which honestly imo that feature in srb2 was never meant for horizontal movement.) the level is super solid and great for a first map. I can't wait to see more maps from this maker. (My reasoning for only the 4/5 stars is mainly some areas of the map geometry do feel rough around the edges like the slopes but other than that great map.)

Yeah I don't think I'm gonna use halfpipe utilities in my next map, it really didn't do all that I wanted that I thought it could do but it was still good for going up some things at least. And yeah slopes were my main enemy in this level, idk how all the big boy modders deal with these. Maybe with time I'll figure that all out but thanks!

This is a HUGE upgrade on the old Emerald Coast map from the Final Demo days. Definitely a much more faithful recreation this time!

Loving the use of custom assets, the amount of secrets, I love the playful additions on what would otherwise be background scenery, making sure players couldn't get stuck and encouraging them to screw around a bit. I had a lot of fun exploring the boss arena background in what would otherwise be yet another Eggmobile fight.

Only criticism is the sense of scale isn't always on-point. At 0.75 scale the sections after the lighthouse still feel cramped, and standstill speed thoks STILL effortlessly skip huge level chunks. I'm not against skips, but it probably shouldn't be THAT easy.

Maybe that's due to inspiration from the old map? Generally, it's easier to add geometry to areas you've made too big than it is the other way around, so I'd lean more in that direction in the future!

I really had fun playing this map and it looks like everything's different from the first time I played the demo but with that out of the way it's really impressive level for a person that's a first time mapper I hope you improve more and this map is a 10/10

For a first map, i must say that this is quite impressive. However, i felt like there could've been a tiny bit more of smaller changes, like the Act Clear theme, the Sub-Card of Act 1 saying "Find The Sign" as a nod to the original objective, the proper bumper-like fence function etc.

Still, i like what i see, and i look further into your next projects. Maybe re-countinue the remake of the map from Black Knight, perhaps?

I hope to continue the black knight remake at some point with my new knowledge from this map. I do have one more major update for this map in the works so stay tuned for that. And I have one more level remake i wanna make it's a very special level to me so hope that happens soon. then after all that i hope im ready to tackle this black knight remake.

This is actually the best map ever for me, not laggy nor ugly, the secrets are kinda hard to find tho (or its just me thats blind)

I have never had access to a Dreamcast, so to see what is definitely the closest we have gotten to a 1 to 1 recreation of Emerald Coast was quite a treat. While it does not have the Orca Chase sequence, it was overall fun to play and had a couple of nice surprises.

Good work, I hope to see more.

This is as great as the Speed Highway level mod. Every section is recreated faithfully, even down to the old jump panels! Man, I loved the Emerald Coast level, even though I've never played Sonic Adventure.

But, hey, seeing this is more than enough to have people who've never experienced it finally experience it. And the boss act being inspired by a mediocre Sonic game was a nice touch.

For some Reason, I can't Select the Encore in Level Select

It should be in the global level select in the extras menu.

Does what it says on the box and does it damn well, (aside from some jank with the wall running)

especially loved the encore mode

Really liked the bonus content that came along with this relatively high effort remake of Emerald Coast, the slope physics were a little unexpected to see and they were also a touch janky.

Cute recreation that blows all of the older ones out of the water. Makes me incredibly nostalgic, and has lots of bonus content too. (Plus I think it's the only map to actually have a Gamma-sanctioned route so obviously I have to give bonus points.) Nice work!

Well what can i say, very faithful recreation of the og,well designed and the bonus content was just all it needed to make an already fun experience even more perfect.
