Please help me, problem with fire wire/ camera to comp

As many of you know, I am currently making youtube piano videos. I recorded 8 pieces on my video camera, and just yesterday bought a fire wire to import the videos onto my computer. When I connect the firewire to the camera and computer, turn on the camera, put it into VTR mode, an icon pops up saying USB general HUB connected. When I try importing the video from Windows Movie Maker, it says the device is not connected. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

get a Mac *shot*
It could just be your computer, have you tried it on other computers?(Like a Mac *shot*) Also are you sure the fire wire cord, and plug are functioning properly? And are make sure you have the latest drivers for it.

Did you try to import the videos using windows ? (the explorer)
The camera should work as a usb storage...

Try looking for the drivers for your camera somewhere. Maybe your firewire card is busted, too.
