I need help on how to get connected with my friend on SRB2

For some reason there is an unknown error that won't allow my friend to join my server or let me join his server. If you have any suggestions, please post it here.

Are your ports forwarded correctly?, and are you behind any sort of firewall? (Either computer firewall or router firewall)

I dunno, I think it's my friends ports that aren't forwarded correctly. My connection works fine.
