General project screenshot/video thread

That mod has no future and I'm honestly bothered that 5 CEZs and 15 GFZ1s stashed inside a WAD full of unnecessary content got through submissions for 2.0 in the first place. Also, nostalgia purposes is a stupid excuse, why else is there the Archives section on the Official page?

I actually support the srb2 the past idea, simply because there all nice and neatly stored together in one large archive rather than having 10 copies of srb2 on my computer for no reason.

That, and some things in this were lost, even to the archives, like the srb2 full single player beta quest, also, some of the older levels were only around in buggy srb2 builds from the early days, so its nice to play on them with proper physics in place, and playing them as tails or knux who may not have existed back then on some levels can be a little fun too.

Overall, its nothing amazing or new, but its a nice novelty for people who want it, and it doesn't HAVE to be something mind-blowing and brand new just to be considered a worthy WAD does it?

Having 15 copies of one level with the only difference between each other are really insignificant changes that need to be pointed out with a wall of text cutscene is just as bad as having 10 different SRB2s installed.

I'm sure SSNTails has Beta quest stashed somewhere. Download Demo 2 and ask him if it still is a thing. And even then, the levels were horrid without any real replay value. Even the devs claimed that "at the time they still had no idea what they're doing." That's also why glaber's X-mas SRB2 The Past got banned.

It bothers me that he's more interested in digging through old versions of a fan game, porting unnecessary stuff instead of working on his own mapping skills.

1. I don't mind for it. I like seeing how the levels evolved.

2. Why do you give a shit about his mapping skills? And why do you care about what he's interested in? Honestly Steelie, mind your own damn business. Also, I don't know why it bothers you so much, he's not making you play it. I say continue, glaber, don't let Steelie discourage you from doing what YOU want.

Agreed. If you don't like the mod, don't play it. I enjoyed the 2.0 version and I see some other people did that too. I personally think that this is a great way to compile Srb2's history, because, as stated before, I really prefer one .wad over about 10-15 .exes.

EDIT: @ the zerotheartificial:

I'd go with Sunken Plant, but I think some of the Multiplayer tunes might fit better.

I still fail to see the point going through 15 versions of a same level that has either texture swapping ot insignificant edits that a normal person wouldn't bother to explore. Who cares that there was green grass in CEZ when it was unlockable? Who cares about some tiny little steps being changed over the years in GFZ1?

Now that's plain hostility, even if not too leveled. I give a shit because there's a lot of better stuff to do than waste his time porting horrid levels from the beggining of time. I'm encouraging him to quit this and do something more productive like learn to Lua, make an interesting character or make a good map.

Anyone with a brain can go into the SRB2 Archives, download an exe, play it and delete it if he doesn't want to waste space. I've nearly never seen anyone playing this mod in Multiplayer (like Match or Tag) other than random people messing around in the maze levels of Beta 2 playing "Slendertag" (including me, it was more enjoyable than playing them in SP or Co-Oping them).

tl;dr: what I'm trying to say, glaber, is that there's much more interesting stuff to do than sweeping dust from random relics from the past. Think about it.

Steel, you're basically telling him to quit a project he's having fun making. Please stop and let people do what they want.

If you legitimately enjoy archiving every version of every element of SRB2 we've cycled through, then go ahead and do it, but don't feel like you have any obligation to whatsoever.

1. The new version of the wad allows you to go to whatever version you want.

2. Like I said before, mind your own damn business. You can't control what people are working on. glaber can work on whatever the hell he wants to. Did you get my point THAT time, because I could gladly keep repeating the obvious for you.

Opinions are facts! Rawr!

Jeez Rex, it's just an opinion. Calm down.

I will say though however that SRB2 The Past is a pretty cool mod despite playing the same level 15 times but that's just a nitpick. If Glaber wanted to, he could have a mini level select room for all the archived level designs. Never mind...

"mind your own damned business"

Can I just say, if it was intended to be entirely glaber's own business, why would he post it in the first place? Just a thought.

Also, that's a rather uncomfortably close relative of "If you don't like it, don't download it". I don't think I need to say much more.

Ugh... that feeling when you spent a day and a half working on a map and that map is less than 20 seconds long... Makes me really look forward to turning Casino Orrery Zone(from my Gravity Shield script) into a full stage...

That's also why glaber's SRB2 X-mas Megamix got banned.
Actually that got banned because the old Christmas demo levels were removed. The mods, mostly Mystic, figured without the old stages, there was no point in my continuing. The mod is still dead to this day

On the plus side though, one piece of that mod did evolve into 2.0's Official Minus.

That's exactly what I'm doing!

I don't like the idea of simply editing the first act of GFZ with tunnels warping to the different versions. I would much rather have a simple version select room or something.

Nostalgia got 2.0 Knuckles to the releases, didn't it? And what about UglyKnux? Personally, I enjoyed the 2.0 version of the wad (Especially the ability to play the Christmas demo levels. ^.^) and hope to see this in the releases soon.

it's not a simple edit. It just uses parts of Act 1 in it's layout.
