Modern Sonic in Sonic Generations is looking pretty good...

Its the same as Colors. Which is to say bleh. And any attempt at 2D in SRB2 can tell you its just not that great. Its really basic and the control is awful in it. Your jump is often too short, and if you go too fast (which is easy to do), you can't stop until its far too late to not get hit or fall in a pit.

Reminds me of Sonic 2, mainly Mystic Cave. Although there were many other places where that happened.

but the difference there is that the control in Sonic 2 was greater, and while Mystic Cave did have issues, the weight behind Sonic in his 3D games is ill suited for his 2D segments, and this applies to SRB2 as well, so no matter what the level, unless its designed to run at a snail's pace, you're GONNA run into something if you even TRY going fast.

Its pretty obvious SRB2's 2D mode is terrible and should only be used for small segments. It has no change of physics (3D mode physics never work well in any 2D game, imagine if Super Mario Bros played like Super Mario Galaxy but in 2D), there's no REAL slopes/curves, the camera follows the player at a constant position (static camera = bad), and much more that makes it terrible. It's basically just a limited 3D mode unlike the classics, and there's nothing that can be done about it.

This is why SRB1 mode exists. It is just too bad that it requires unlocking srb1 remake in order to use it. D:

Well, yeah, but we are talking about something for 2.0.x. I think SRB1 mode will be merged with 2d in 2.1 (I hope with some slight modifications)
