Can I reset the player's momentum when jumping off an ascending FOF?

I'm using FOFs that move up when the player spindashes on them as a stage gimmick. However, jumping while the FOF is ascending boosts the jump's vertical momentum. Because of this, the player could just spindash a bit and then use the boosted jump speed to get all the way to top (or even farther up), that makes the gimmick itself pointless, and I don't want that to happen in this situation.

So I wonder... is there's a way to "reset" the player's vertical momentum when jumping off an ascending platform?

I'm about 85% sure there's no way to avoid that as of right now, sorry.

I'm not sure how well it'd work, but something you can try is having a wind effect covering the area that strongly pushes the player downwards, so using the upwards momentum of the platform isn't as effective.
