Reccommendable freeware games? (Plus pre-emptive goodbye)

So, you know that times are getting tough. Economic recession and whatnot.
Well, finding work is harder than ever, these days... And now, once again, we're late on our Charter (Internet provider) bill, and it really looks like we're not going to be able to make it. So, I might be without internet for a while... Again.
So, if sometime in the next week or so I vanish, that would be the reason.
If that happens, I don't know how long I will be gone. If things happen to take a turn for the better, a month at least. If things don't improve... It could be much, much longer.
So, in case I do vanish, I would like to say goodbye, and that I hope I'm able to return to the community soon... I might be able to pop in now and again, if I do somehow manage to find myself somewhere with internet access, E.G. A cafe or summat.

As for the other reason I created this topic, and in particular, within this particular forum... As mentioned above, I will be without internet, perhaps for a long time, so I'm going to have a lot of time I'm going to need to kill if I hope to retain my sanity. So, I will be googling for whatever decent free games I can find, and I'm also asking you guys if you happen to know of such games.
Singleplayer would be required, for obvious reasons, but aside from that, I'm willing to take anything and everything. Source mods would be welcome, as would be Quake 4, and DooM 3 mods.
Deathmatch games/mods are acceptable, if there are addable bots.
Thanks, guys.

Try cave story, it short but fun, IWBTG is another one, but if you hate trial and error games then stay away from this, and you can try to download as many SRB2 single player MODs as posible and play on those.

And If you are without internet for a while then I wish you will get it back soon, if not then goodby and I hope I will see you soon.

Freeware games huh? Well, depending on what you like, I have some suggestions that might be of some help.

If you ever liked DOS games, there is a whole bunch of shareware titles that are around the Internet. You probably have to get DOS BOX to play some of them. A couple ones that I like are Duke Nukem (the original platformer one, not the doom rip off), Paganitzu, Pharaoh's Tomb, Jazz Jackrabbit.

If you like shoot em' ups like Galaga, then I can suggest some of Kenta Cho's games http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~cs8k-cyu/index_e.html. They are quite unique and have an arcade feel to them. I love the simple geometric shapes styles. A couple ones I would recommend from that site are, Gunroar, TUMIKI Fighters, and Mu-cade.

Why is everyone making incredibly obvious recommendations? What if he already knows about all these games? Here's some you might not know about:

RollerBall
http://web.telia.com/~u35111961/RollerBall/
Mouse-controlled game where you roll a ball through a maze and try not to fall off. Really frustrating at times, but still fun.

TileWorld
http://www.muppetlabs.com/~breadbox/software/tworld/
Super cool Chip's Challenge emulator that can simulate both rulesets of the game, and has great support for custom levels. If you want to make your own, I suggest CCTools ( http://cctools.translucentdragon.com/ ). Just be careful, as it has a few problems with saving (backing up all your level files may be a good idea). Also, download all the documentation you can about the game and level editing, as it can really come in handy.

Glider
http://members.chello.at/theodor.lauppert/games/glider_w.htm
You control a paper airplane with the arrow keys, dodging walls and other obstacles. You slowly float down, and in order to move up you must move over air vents or candles. Challenging.

Nifflas' Games
http://niffpage.greywool.com/
Sure, we've all heard of Knytt and Knytt Stories, but what about his older games? In particular, Riddle is a bit of a gem, as you have to figure out each screen in order to proceed. Also has lots of bouncing ball games. Where you will die a lot.

Ninjah
http://www.acid-play.com/download/ninjah/
Interesting game where you jump, gun-jetpack, and grapple your way to the end of each level. The catch is that your character cannot collide with any blocks that have a different color. You can switch colors by touching checkered blocks.

Happyland Adventures

Okay, maybe not exactly "unheard of" but still worth a look.

I'd also put Cellosoft Games on here (for instance, Sokoban2K), but for some stupid reason they all vanished from the internet. I'll see if I can salvage them from my old, old computer.

Jazz Jack Rabbit, I heard of that somewhere before, I wonder why? Well, anyway I would suggest Mugen, but getting characters might be a pain. I hope your internet get's better if it does, I have to always to restart my computer, because of ad-ware these days.

RECOMMENDED
https://www.digipen.edu/gallery/games/ (Go get Narbacular drop, portal's early version!)
http://www.fun-motion.com/ <--- this site has amazing physics based games, I personally recommend Armadillo Run
Trackmania, get the freeware version.
Touhou games.
El loco dumas.
Frets on fire. (Get RFMod, it's much better than vanilla FoF)
BLOCKSUM.
Phun. Physics sandboxing at it's best.
rRootage.
"An Untitled Story"
Souptoys.
Karoshi and Karoshi 2.0.

and... I can't remember much...
I hope I have helped.

I suggest Mushroom Kingdom Fusion, a big Mario style game with a ton of characters and various styles of gameplay, including Sonic and Megaman gameplay. Think of a huge crossover game. Notice that the game is not finished, so a few characters may be missing and levels may not be done/even in yet.

You should get an acoount here... No warez links, please. There are literally thousands of old games for free (when I say 'old' Imean 1990-2000). That could hold you for ages.

But in all seriousness, you could try playing through Mystic Realm on hard and/or second quest

Also, Playah, it's a pity that you're leaving. Hope we can see you again soon.
