signal_handler:segment violation()

Whenever I play SRB2, my game crashes, giving me the error message signal_handler:segment violation(). Is there a way to fix this, or am I going to have to live with it..
 
Elaborate.

When does it crash? Are there any patterns? Is it a level or a character? Soc maybe?
 
1) There is no pattern, it just happens at random times.

2) I don't know if this is the error all the time, but after one crash, here's what the log.txt file said

signal_handler() error: segment violation
