Ty the Tasmanian Tiger mod

I have been thinking of making this. I have done a little work, but want to know if I should try to make it. If you don't know what it is go here.

Yes, dammit. I love the Ty games, at least seeing a character wad for Ty would rock.

I want to make a character, but I know nothing of how to extract the sprites from the game. (I was planning on trying to remake the first)
I know how to do some of the moding, but I am not very good at it.
Any help would be appreciated. Most all I have done is replace some music and the main screen.

I will be working on maps next, and items in them. (checkpoints, maurie tutorials, frill, blue tongues)
