Yes, it is definitely true! The new Sonic Minecraft DLC just dropped today, and i hope that the reactions were much expected! Here is some pictures from the Minecraft website marketing article to show you what it looks like!

It reworks the game essentially. I was just in a VC with a friend playing it and it’s basically a new Sonic game. It’s pretty fun, I’d recommend checking it out
 
Even though, it still has the Minecraft spirit, it has more things than just adding more stuff, like some regular mod, instead, the DLC brings real made textures, Springs, Rings, more so on things, a Dr. Eggman boss (i hopefully think), bop-able badniks, secret stuff, and FIVE. PLAYABLE. CHARACTERS. (They even come with special abilities) So no, it's not a texture pack, it's basically a new game. It's way better than what they did with Mario. (Literally just a texture pack for the Switch version) So compare the Mario texture pack to the Sonic DLC, and you'll be able to see what Nintendidn't do at all.

Very much, but instead of a Lego game, it's one of the popular games that AREN'T one of Sega's platforms. (Or fighting, top down, flying games, whatever they are, but now, let's expirience the horrifying reality if Sonic got in Balan Wonderland instead)

Sort of. Sonic in LEGO Dimensions was like adding any other character and didn’t really change the core gameplay. This is closer to when they added PacMan to Minecraft last year
 
I was honestly expecting this already once they showed that second of Minecraft gameplay with a Sonic head
 
Oh no,i bet for 10 dollars and 5 cents that someone made a recreation of "Steve,you gotta help me,im stuck!" meme,but with Minecraft Sonic characters.
