The MB isn't a proper place to whine about bans from various community discords, especially ours :V Sometimes, it's the same staff, and the same reasons you've been banned will stand just as true, here. If you HAVEN'T been banned, it's because we were giving you a chance to step back and re-examine your behavior. If you're not willing to do that, and are just going to pretend that three servers with very different moderation teams all had poor judgment when they banned you (after giving you many chances, as I'm well aware), then perhaps you're just too prideful to take much away from it as a learning experience

Regardless, I actually would hope you do, because what you ought to take away from it is a realization "hey, if what I keep doing keeps pushing the envelope of a large majority of people to the point where I get banned, maybe my behavior isn't as tolerable as I thought it was." I know most staff are more than willing to work with people who are willing to own up now and then; really they just want people to get along and be happy. I know I am! But you don't really seem willing to do that in all my past experience reading your lines, I'm sorry.
:oh:

So as long as you're going to go on our public forum and try to say you were banned unfairly, it's only fair I get to contradict why you *weren't* banned unfairly. You can't possibly argue that. Here are some images that factored into your ban from the OS -- behavior I've seen of yours across multiple servers.

You keep trying to use modern internet culture as a scapegoat, but what's actually at fault here is your own abrasive behavior and lack of respect for others. People don't like how you act nowadays? People would have hated your guts back then too, LOL. The sooner you realize that, the sooner everyone can get along. But if you don't, you're cursing yourself to experience this kind of stuff everywhere you go.

If you want to rough talk, that's okay. You're allowed to be as coarse as you want, but you have to do that in the company of friends who know you well and not thousands of strangers. When you're in mixed company, you have to be polite, because expecting people you don't know to read between the lines of the things you say is an unfair social burden to them, and that's why you're testing people's patience repeatedly.

Are you gonna keep on like this? When people react to what you say negatively, are you going to keep on doing the equivalent of "how DARE you take the most obvious reaction to the hostile looking things I said?" Or next time are you gonna be, like, "Sorry, miscommunication, was just meaning to jest, but I didn't make that obvious enough"?
Cosigning this all.

The truth is that you never had any chance at thriving in a community like ours by openly expressing disgust for diversity and other people's needs. It's just not what's in. If you genuinely believe, how in this very thread, you're passive-aggressively shooing people away from your "project" when they expressed a sliver of interest in it, that there's absolutely nothing you could've done differently, I can double down on the aforementioned: you're not gonna thrive anywhere.

To make sure this thread doesn't get locked (although it's the up to the mods to decide lel), I will try to explain somewhat vaguely. I truly have respect for people, I usually joke around and be a goofball because that's what makes me happy. I never expected people to act this way because there were legit times where I figured out I didn't do anything wrong, and by getting called out, I would think I'd look it up especially according to these caps. Well, aside from that "haha glaber makes bad levels haha", obviously I acted so bitchy and retarded, I'm not gonna explain what I have been going through from there. But I didn't quite understand the others, that's only the tip of the iceberg however.

I have been banned for my whereabouts of a specific mod with a person, and even got my words twisted, but then that person showed me the link to prove me wrong. It was like a 1920's film cliche but never planned to go overboard with it. I still got banned nonetheless. Not gonna mention all of this, but mayhaps that would be enough proof of why I'm having a hard time in this community. I won't explain anything else.

Also I may did it partially, however my intent was to show a side of my story and not actually complaining about bans. Infact, I could care less, I do think Discord is a terrible place to chat with people and it could be any server. I may brought this to the public, but it wasn't made to start wars and shit and target someone. Infact, I think that post was kind of pointless, but if I couldn't do it anywhere, how and where else am I gonna talk about what I have been experiencing? I felt obligated too anyways. I have been talking with other people on another Discord server, but that server had nothing to do with SRB2.

Also I could care less about the old times and the new times, the Internet was still a big joke like it was always and always will. There's one more thing before I come to an end to not drag this out and creating tons of fuss.
______________________________________________________________________________________________

Response (not an appeal): It was 1 or 2 times but I want to forget about those times and I am truly sorry for that, but aside from that, I never expressed hate and disgust publicly to other people's projects and feelings, I respect what people are doing and feel. I may be a douchebag, but not THAT douchey. I never expressed disgust for people and such, whether it's this community or others. Also, since when did I "shooed people away from the project when they expressed interest"? I never did that and I never will. If you think I did, please show me, because I looked just about anywhere.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Anyways, I won't be responding to anything else...

Well uh

This certainly is a hype killer, was looking forward to playing and seeing what the zones in older SRB2 versions were like but uhh..yeah I don't think I wanna play something made by a real tosser
Don't worry, you'll be able to do it eventually when glaber is finished with the official 2.2 port of SRB2TP aka SRB2 The Past 2.0, or if you have 2.1, you can play SRB2 The Past 1.08.c if you feel like doing it now. Please note that some things will be inaccurate like the TGF boss levels having the Xmas-Demo 4 Egg Mobile, the TGF versions of THZ and MMZ1 (Mine Maze) having Jetty-Syns, and the latter level having no minecarts, but they will be fixed in SRB2TP 2.0.

Hey everybody! How embarrassing to come back, huh?

Didn't I say I was gonna cancel this project? It's not that far-fetched, it was a quick break to calm myself down. That doesn't mean the project won't be cancelled, it may will. MAY. However, before this project gets shut down, I do want to experiment with new roles, I already mentioned this, but I think this time, I will make it. Didn't I say I would take a break from the project this month? Yes. BUT, I will spend my free time looking for roles and new faces on the team. Remember that form I mentioned in the first ACTUAL post? Yup, I will do it. I won't do it now, because funnily enough, I don't have time today, but once I do, I will post the link here. It's perhaps the only way I get to choose people in a fair way.

In the meantime, I'm also looking for a moderator to be in charge of the project. In case I go, you know? Boop! Gone for a while?

Hopefully, I'll get to work around in the game this December. Now all of my previous statements made in "the last announcement of the month" (which is now "removed") still stand. I will quit the game eventually to do other stuff, I will perhaps put a permanent stop to this project and I still don't have much fun here like I used to... Ironically, I STILL didn't work on anything, but I will try to stay on track.

ALSO, new information on a NEW demo is coming out! Yes, it's a Christmas demo indeed. It will be worked during the patch, along with the OFFICIAL Halloween-belated release of the demo. It is released, but it's more of a "original" release than an actual release, because things are not working out. New concepts will be shown throughout the demos, like an actual museum renovation instead of literally being locked behind bars and new badniks and items! As well, as new exibits, like TGF. So far, only 1 TGF stage was completed, and that was GFZ1. Because the remakes will last for what it'll feel like forever! Only GFZ1, 2 and THZ2 will make the cut, for now... Once the final Christmas demo comes out, there will be extra work done for the new concepts and such.

And yeah, I think that's about it. Have fun with those Cyber Monday and Black Friday sales! Or some shit... Not too fond of those and whatever...

It's... pretty weird that you are trying to get manpower for a project that you say you may discontinue, such project being on its baby steps.
You should consider taking your month-long break now and making your decision later as to gather your thoughts, instead of getting people on board now for something equivalent to "Here's an early project, team! Do something with it while I take my break", and potentially deciding to nuke it afterwards.

By the way, consider decreasing the quality of your songs. The demo I downloaded weighs 131mb!
SLADE_2021-11-23_21-33-13.png

If you can help it, avoid using mp3 and wav files. Those are the worst offenders when it comes to audio size.
Music sounds good when it comes out of a 0 quality ogg file. Quality loss is almost unnoticeable - even more so when the player is moving around making all sorts of noise.

Soup, If this mod does die, Srb2 the Past 2.0 will be what winds up taking its place. That's just going to be the natural cause of events since the official update is nearing completion.
(don't expect it any earlier than some time 2022)

something I should mention is that I'm not constantly working on SRB2 the Past as I have to take breaks so I don't burn out too. some times these are long breaks, some times short. Other times, involuntary because I'm tired from my job.

Here's a quick reminder for those working too hard
Sonic X-Treme was ironically cancelled because of hard work.
The reason X-Treme was cancelled was because both Christina Coffin and Chris Senn worked so hard on the game, they developed life-threatening illnesses. Both of them had a horrible prognosis, with Coffin being told that they had just 6 months to live if she'd continued working on the game as hard as she did.

It isn't about having manpower... It's about being demotivated. Yes, it is a little soon to end the project, but keep in mind, it's been in development for 3 months. Also, I am still taking a break from the project. I am only hiring people because I am planning to have a whole new development team, as well as giving some time for people to fill in. And from there, I could see what people are capable of doing, there is a chance none of them will be chosen, BUT it will still be open in case they become curious. As of September, the project was completely solo and from there I was stuck on a development hell loophole. It will take about 5 extra days from now until December to recover.

Also, the build that's currently available is somewhat of a beta. The SOC leftovers from 1.08.c are affecting the game and its space, I will delete them to make it less heavy, as well to get rid of unnecessary SOCs that are somewhat present. I don't know about the music though. The majority of them are recordings or downloads that lack OGG availability. If there was a way to convert the files to an OGG, that would've been fixed already. I also saw some issues with TGF THZ1's music, it takes a while to load the music. Which is funny, because there is an option to convert Doom sounds to WAVs, so... yeah. Thanks for notifying me about this.

(on a serious note, what is literally stopping you from simply googling for a way to convert files? thanks to the internet, you have all the tools in the world, and yet, you choose not to use them :worry:)

If there was a way to convert the files to an OGG
funny you should mention that, because ...

Of course, Doom Format audio can't be converted through one of these tools. But what you can convert is the WAV version of them - SLADE can easily transmogrify Doom Format audio to WAV!

Every text-wise lump here (excluding two particular SOC files I will get into in a few lines), i.e. SCR* lumps plus TEXTURES, ANIMDEF, LUA_SILR and SOC_SIGN almost manage to achieve 6kb total.
1637804575734.png

But they all combined pale in comparison with MAINCFG and OBJECTCFG, who reach a whooping 130.59kb combined.

Consider that a decently sized Lua script of purpose unknown (like a gamemode, a hub system, or something of that extent) is capable of reaching 1mb, so the size of all these lumps I just mentioned combined barely surpass 13% of the just mentioned megabyte.
And even then,
1637807827378.png

1637807853441.png

The uncompressed archive weighs 148.32mb.
That's ~148320kb.

All these text scripts barely manage to inflate the file container any worse.

Should they be truncated to just the important bits? I suppose so; I don't possess massive SOC files to say with certainty, but I can assert that them text lumps have trivial impact on filesize.
When compressed, text files are even less impactful. They're easy to compress, after all...

So no. They aren't "affecting the game and its space" in any noticeable way.

I'll be brutally honest here:

I don't think you'll ever finish this. You clearly aren't committed to the project, judging from how you conflict yourself regarding the project and others behind it, as well as basically being deflective and blaming everyone but yourself pretty much 90% of the time. Oh, and you also seriously can't be telling me that you're essentially offloading work to other people? Wasn't this your mod? There's a difference between offloading work while you take a vacation and getting help with your mod.

If you're going to prosper, you really need to do better.

EDIT: Whoops, did not mean to post two in a row. Blame the MB/my ISP/connection for that one!

Heck, you don't even need a program, you can literally go to this online site and covert yer ogg files there

Also don't think you can get this whole project done in only a few short months. The Official update of SRB2 the Past has taken almost 2 years at this point. For a project like this, you got to be dedicated to it, to know your limits, know when to take breaks, and to know when to get help.

If this winds up being as far as your attempt goes, then I'm sad to say that the portlegs that fixed the graphics have actually gotten futher considering you haven't even finished doing that.

Yeah, I know that. I'll try to concentrate.

Although, the finished product will be more than just a Halloween version and 2.2 port. It will have new features based on previous concepts being used and stuff added by the developers.

I don't trust online converters honestly...

I don't trust online converters honestly...
Did you read my post?

There are plenty of online converters, some better and some worse. I've provided a few that I've used at least once.
If you don't trust any of them, you can download tools to do such conversions too. Audacity being one of them.
If you don't trust downloadable programs, that's why "asking people about their preferred program" exists as a concept, as to base yourself what to trust and what to not.
If you don't trust people in any degree, I don't think you should be on the internet. Like, at all.

Sidenote: SRB2TP 2.0 will be heavy as well.

As for my filesize... Unfortunately, it has to stay like that.

It is going to offer so much content. And by "it", I am refering to the Xmas release. Halloween will have a couple of level SOCs removed because they're unused and also messes with the menus. The music will stay the same. If there are any notable bugs I can find, I will fix those tracks. Example: The TGF THZ1 track takes a bit to load.
