Hello Extreme Gear Enthusiasts I've created this thread as a public dump of our progress, here you can discuss Riders' development and ask questions to the developers such as myself. here are a few answers to a few questions we commonly get:

Q: "Will this be a source code mod?"
A: We aren't sure, as of now we are sticking with lua
Q: "What characters are in the base roster?"
A: We actually don't know, we plan to stick with Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles for sanity reasons and have community modders do the rest.
Q: "Is this building off of 2.0's code?"
A: It isn't, this was scripted entirely from scratch by WellDoneSnake and LatiusAuro
Q: "Will this have model support?"
A: Because I'm involved? Nah, due to how the mod is being built off of Vanilla Srb2, model support will be difficult.

Ok, so just a question, Foxz. Because of the jump in the coding process from 2.0, does this mean more of the OG Rider's mechanics can be added in? If I recall correctly, SRB2 Riders 2.0 lacked some OG Riders features.

Yes, more of the original Rider's mechanics will be added, we will also add new ones to help expand the modding scene!
 
Some of you may be wondering what HUD style we will be using. Well... You'll just have to wait and see. Because we have a new HUD in development which I can't spoil just yet... But I can show this - an extension of the teaser I've shown before.

By the way, gotta ask. What will you name the mod? Probably srb2 riders, but I needed to ask since there's already a srb2 riders mod, but that's the old one.

I’m not part of this project, but this mod is essentially acting as an update to the original

Ironically, we already have a (provisional) name for it. Which I came up with. I think this was about the same time that the TWEWY sequel was announced, so... I called it SRB2NeoRiders to tell it apart from the old SRB2Riders. And so far, the name's stuck.
 
heres an idea: since theres 2 types of... what are they... *gibberish* gears, if you guys want, make two types of the same character for each gear. and the difference between the two being... something. do what you want with this idea. dont make this a requirement for custom characters though. spriting SUCKS!

Don't worry, different gear types are a thing, we haven't fully refined it for the characters yet due to lua not able to really touch the player select Hud
 
Moved topic because things like this belong in Modding, as this is a topic from the actual devteam.

In fact, we have plans for at least seven Gear Types, with more to potentially add as we get better and/or when we move to source code modifications.
 
No thanks. We're making our own characters by scratch. But thanks for the offer.

Is it going to be like Kart where it own area where we can add mods and lua. Etc
