Previously seen at OLDC 2021/2, Caustic Crater Zone returns, fully ported to UDMF and slightly updated to better fit a message board release. Features electric floors, pipes, and a lot of lethal acid water.

List of changes from the OLDC version:

  • Skybox and level design slightly updated
  • Emblem difficulty adjusted (Time 1:30 -> 1:15; Rings 250 -> 300)
  • Added a score emblem (70000), as well two extra emblems for beating the developer time and getting a perfect bonus

Included in the .zip file is a guest lump, meant to be seen in Record Attack, to use as reference for the developer time. To view it in-game, check the instructions on how to do it at the end of the page.

All the playtesters (you know who you are): Level feedback
1. Enter the "replay" folder in your main SRB2 folder (if you do not have one, creating one is also fine)
2. Check for the "causticcrater" folder. If you already have a Caustic Crater replay, it will be created automatically. If not, you can simply open it;
3. Paste the guest lump in your folder!

You can then view the replay in-game by choosing the REPLAY GUEST option in the Record Attack menu.

A really fun level, I haven't seen the OLDC version of this stage but I bet it's just as fun. Playing this stage with a custom character is fun, one minor nitpick if the last door at the start opens a bit delayed. Not sure if that was intentional or not, might just be on my side. Besides that can;t wait to see more!

Everything checks out just as the level was in the OLDC, except now it looks even better with 60 FPS gameplay.

There is only one minor nitpick and that is a short conveyor belt midway through that takes you sideways, but it is still as good as I thought it was. I can't wait to see what you will do with it now that it can utilize the UDMF features.

Of course you got a perfect bonus on your own level. I expect no less from you haha.

This is one of the most carefully decorated and solidly designed custom stages for SRB2. Amazing gameplay flow and obstacle design with memorable setpieces. Really great to see this released as its own on the message board, and I can't wait for the future works you have in store.
