Emerald Tokens within Special Stages?

The Reason Angels Die
Seems by going the opposite way in Flooded Cove, after (rather BEFORE) the breakable blocks, there's this dead end with an Emerald Token there. Was this intentionally placed? Does this mean that we can have infinite tries with the said stage/move on to next without exiting to the next level?

This makes me wonder if the other stages did the same thing... but Floral Field doesn't have one. :/
 
I tried finding that in Record Attack but it didn't show up.
 
In Record Attack you just press Escape and Retry.
Emerald tokens NEVER show up. That's like hunting for the tokens in Greenflower in Record Attack, you're not getting anywhere. :P

If you want to confirm it, single player is the way to go. (Or Co-Op, I assume)
 
It's intentional. On release day, Rob kept telling us how surprised he was that "nobody found the secret in DSZS yet".
